15 Nismo DRL's without the $1200 price tag, DIY in the making
Decided to post what I've been working on the past couple weeks. Everyone knows about the price of the OEM 15' Nismo DRL's you buying direct from Nissan. I wanted the OEM look and decided to create my own LEDs without the price tag. No offense to buying aftermarket from CarbonSignal or EVO R, just didn't like the look. I found some DRLs coming off a 2013 Renault Koleos (non US car) that had the similar shape and almost exact dimensions. Created a mold out of plastic weld (like JB weld) to get the shape.
Let me know what you guys think. Possible DIY down the road if you guys were interested. Original DRLs coming off of Renault Koleos http://i330.photobucket.com/albums/l...s1kij7kgw.jpeg Cut to trim, it was slight longer http://i330.photobucket.com/albums/l...pstgw3vmla.jpg plastic weld and sanded to fit bumper http://i330.photobucket.com/albums/l...ps0loz7rbf.jpg Test fit, pretty close. http://i330.photobucket.com/albums/l...psm2zxmncb.jpg |

Looks great so far in for the results and a DIY (maybe?)
|
Looking good! And those are drastically less expensive than Nissan.

Total cost so far...
$89 from eBay, OEM replacement DRL Renault Koleos $36 for x4 of Plastic Weld (JB weld brand) $18 for 12oz color paint match $18 for 12 oz 2 part clear coat $4 for 12oz sandable primer $3 for sand paper $168 total so far still better than evo and carbon Signal. And looks better |
Sub'd for the final product. This looks great!

Very nice job!

Updated photos. Very happy how these came out. They look very OEM, exactly what I was going for. Enjoy!
