Tablet retrofit ideas
Hello everyone, I just discovered a few ideas after i've been looking into installing the navigation trim bezel with a tablet instead of the OEM screen and ran into a few ideas or possible issues.
First thing, my car is a touring '12 with Bose. I was thinking of buying the bezel, and possibly the "receiver" as it seems like the bezel needs modification to look good with the Bose stereo/Hvac. (Notice how it doesn't line up with the OEM stereo) Example: Credit to theDreamer https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-1...512/Teaser.JPG So first question is, does the navigation stereo and climate unit work with non-nav cars? Another idea i stumbled upon on the Infiniti forums, which could be used in place of the stock navigation controls is this weird device used in this video. Anybody knows what it's called or who sells it? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2WbqzBhQcI |
Yeah, mine was a quick to market test and never went back to make it look better. It is possible to cut the navigation control portion out easily and then blend it together to look much better.
This was done by a forum member in Houston also who took my idea and cut the navigation piece and blended the standard HU piece. http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n...psc99977c7.jpg |

I added a notch on the right to expose light sensor beacuse i couldn't deal with brightness issues constantly I deleted the 2 buttons above the shifter, i think it looks much better now its not 100% done, its my first wrapping job so there are some imprefections, its wrapped in carbon fiber with copper http://www.the370z.com/members/scope...4-09-55-56.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/scope...4-10-16-21.jpg |
