Best All Around Car Cover..... Advice Needed
Unfortunately I’m not one of the lucky owners who has a garage. It’s sad to say, but my Z will have to endure the elements all year around. On a good note, she isn’t my everyday driver, so I plan to keep her under a cover when she isn’t being used, which will be much of the winter. I’ve never used a car cover before, so this is all new to me. There seems to be a wide variety of them on the market. Does anyone have any suggestions on which one I should purchase?
I live in Maryland, just outside of Annapolis. Our winters aren’t terrible, but the temperature does go below freezing and we do get snow from time to time. Any and all help will be most appreciated.

Most covers are similar in construction and cut off the same computer programs (if you get a custom cover). I;m a fan of the Noah fabric which is available from several manufacturers like: California Car Cover Company - Find a Cover

if your car is stored outside make sure you get one that's labeled for outside use.
if you get an indoor cover they will leak water as it allows the car to breathe while in the garage to prevent mold and rust. |

Most of the places sell the same ones but if you can't find what you want also check out:
But remember, get the outdoor one, not the indoor covers. You'll thank me later. autosportcatalog.com Car Care, Detail Supplies, Garage Organization, Car Accessories - Griot's Garage 800-345-5789 Last edited by kenchan; 11-28-2009 at 06:57 PM. Reason: Fixed the link |

I just ordered the Superweave car cover from California Car Cover Company. While I expect my car to spend most of it's life in a garage, having a good car cover is key in many situations. The Superweave is apparenly one of the better outdoor covers out there, repelling water, contaminants, acid rain, etc, while being safe on your paint considering you keep it clean before putting the cover on. I recommend using at least a duster after every drive before putting your cover on. I also use Speed Shine (Griots Garage) after dusting to make sure everything is off the paint before putting the cover on. Speed Shine is a heck of a product if you keep your paint waxed. Couldn't recommend it enough to use under a good car cover.
Cheers |

i use SpeedShine for my hobby cars but for cars that are daily driven, Prima Slick is imho much slicker and easier to get the contaminants off. it also dries to this teflon kinda slick finish. it's polymer based.
i use it mostly on my hobby car's wheels. i buy by the gallon. www.detailersparadise.com |

Yeap, I need to get me a good car cover. Sounds like a XMas gift from the old lady.
