Introducing the New RJ MFG Strut Tower Brace!

Good afternoon,

We here at RJ MFG would like to introduce to the community our newest innovation "the world's first fully adjustable strut tower brace for the 370z!". No where in the market is there a truly affordable strut tower brace outside of the OEM or Nismo units. When we created our GTR conversion manifold we were presented with an obstacle that meant losing the factory strut tower brace. After we introduced that product to the market we had significant requests to make a replacement strut brace that was not only affordable but also functional. So with that in mind we have spent weeks going over multiple designs and features. What we came up with is a strut brace that uses the balance of strong yet lightweight materials. Below is the preliminary drawings of the unit.

Preview of the Preliminary drawings:

FAQ:

1. What is the Price?
- Pricing has yet to be determined but will be once we have finalized the manufacturing costs. However, with that said we are targeting a $500-$600 range depending on options

2. What Material is it made out of? and how much does it weigh?
- We are utilizing a combination of materials from Chromoly Steel to Billet aluminum and stainless hardware. As far as weight is concerned we hope to be lighter than stock.

3. What will it fit?
- The design currently allows for all the current aftermarket manifolds on the market. This also includes the OEM manifold as well. In addition to the VQ specific manifolds we have designed this unit to also clear the GTR conversion with a stock GTR manifold. We will be testing the Greddy GTR manifold in the coming weeks since this is the next affordable GTR manifold. So as of right now there should be no limitations on manifolds with this strut brace.

4. What are the available options?
- Well we will be weighing the options but at this point we will be looking at the following: Powdercoating, anodizing, and material upgrades such as titanium.

5. When will it be ready?
- We fully expect to have production units in the next 30-60 days.

bullitt5897 08-05-2016 05:23 PM

I may do mine with Titanium accents...

Ventruck 08-05-2016 10:32 PM

Any FEA done on stiffness compared to the OEM unit? Curious to know the difference.

But either way, the Ti sounds so awesome for dress-up alone.

Kingbaby 08-06-2016 12:11 AM

Awesome

EZT 08-06-2016 09:19 AM

Nice to finally see an affordable option on the table.

Abntroop 08-06-2016 10:25 AM

Ok, so I'm going to be the newb and raise my hand for a question here because, simply, I don't know the answer and I like to learn new things. Why would the strut tower brace need to be adjustable?

forgot pw 08-06-2016 10:57 AM

i mean dere's nothing wrong with the factory one besides maybe da weight. should make a fullarsed version and use titanium.

i dont get why id want to swap mine out for a minor benefit in weight.

This brace isn't necessarily meant to replace the OEM one on regular applications. Its being made so that people with the RJM GTR conversion manifold can have a strut tower bar because the OEM bar doesn't fit with the conversion.

K carry on!

bullitt5897 08-06-2016 11:29 PM

It is also stronger and lighter than the OEM unit based off of initial digital solid works testing

Stiffen, if needed a minute change in chassis movement.

The strut bar on Z33 is adjustable from factory. I know that when I removed and re-installed it, it was loose and extending it got it to be snug.

May be due to the unleveled surface but none the less it's a welcomed feature.

RJ MFG 08-12-2016 02:39 PM

Update: we should have the first prototype done soon. Luckily we have a forum member who will be helping us with prototype fitment testing.

We also have the Greddy GTR intake manifold in our hands to test aftermarket GTR manifold fitments.

Stay tuned for more pictures and updates.

Is there going to be a burnt titanium finish option so we can pretend its a Top Secret strut bar? :)

bullitt5897 09-02-2016 10:42 AM

I am working with them on the looks department. All units will come Powdercoated standard. Other custom options will be available.

bullitt5897 09-02-2016 10:43 AM

Ohhh and the steel is all chromoly so super light and crazy strong

DarkJak 09-02-2016 01:07 PM

Looking forward to this, especially if lighter and stiffer. The design makes it look like access the adjusters on coilovers will be easier too.

bullitt5897 09-02-2016 03:10 PM

It is lighter and significantly stronger than factory... Ohh and its adjustable too

CanadianSteel 09-02-2016 04:59 PM

Man this looks nice!

Will it fit with the plastic cover at the top part next to the windshield? Also, does it fit with the stock engine cover?

From the pictures and my discussion with the guys at RJ MFG it will fit the stock intake manifold and cover. Also for the rear mounts they are still looking at hardware. the current hardware which are Grade 10 bolts would require some small holes to be cut in the vented area to make sure everything latches properly. A drill bit or dremel should suffice...

RJ MFG 09-09-2016 08:33 AM

Quick Update:

For those following this thread we were planning on having a fully powdercoated and ready to go production unit today. However our laser cutter is a little behind on schedule meaning it will have to wait until next week. Fear not we will post plenty of pictures and post a price next week.

To answer some questions we have already received:

1. Will this fit a stock plenum car?
A. Yes this will fit any plenum on the market.

2. Is it stronger than the factory unit?
A. Yes, the chromoly is much stronger than the factory unit and its significantly lighter.

3. Will there be a group buy?
A. At this time we are only offering a discount to those who already bought the gtr conversion. If you buy the conversion there is a SIGNIFICANT discount by bundling the strut tower bar.

4. What colors are available?
A. Any powder coat color is available. We will have a set of standard colors available at no additional cost. Special order colors will be available.

5. Can I get it in Titanium?
A. Well of course you can but be prepared for a $2k+ price tag.

EZT 09-09-2016 11:39 AM

That looks amazing! Totally getting one! Great price on the group buy too!

cooltoy 09-23-2016 10:36 PM

I would put those brackets underneath so they are not visible and cap the ends of the tubing so it looks better.

I understand that this is for function, but it should look good too,

I agree with caping the ends. However, the plate brackets are on both the top and bottom. It helps with rigidity...
