Default Has Anyone Hardwired a Dash Cam or Radar Detector?

So I'm thinking of upgrading from my G1W dash cam to a nicer one. I'm tired of having the cord hang down off of the windshield, so I'm thinking tucking the wire and hard-wiring it somewhere.

What would be the easiest way to do this? Tuck the wire along the windshield and use an add-a-fuse kit to the interior fuse box?

Has anyone done this or something similar and have pictures of how they wired everything?

Where are you placing the device? On the mirror? Does the Nismo have a home-link mirror?

hard-wired my passport max 360 with the smartcord. Grabbed switched positive and the negative from the cigarette lighter in the center console, mounted the mute button and lights in one of the switch blanks, ran the cord behind the glovebox, within the passenger a-pillar behind the weather stripping, inside the headliner, and down the mirror.

This is the dash cam I am planning on buying. It has a mount that attaches to the windshield with double-sided 3M tape. I'm planning on mounting it on the windshield behind the mirror.

My NISMO does not have the home-link mirror. There are not any wires connected to it, either.

I was going suggest wiretap, but if you r mirror does not have power, then that is useless advice.

Inside the headliner? How difficult was that? And how much of the center console did you have to take apart to connect/run the wires through it?

to get inside the headliner, just carefully pull it down from where it meets the windshield. As far as the center console: remove cupholder and your wires will be behind the e-brake. Tap in from there, unclip area around the shifter, and route the wire from there (or tap in from the cigarette lighter underneath the glovebox if you have it. much easier)

That doesn't sound too bad. How long of a a cord will I need to go from the center console up to the mirror?

the smartcord I used for my radar was 12 feet and I ended up with a good amount of slack. If you want I'll pop some pictures of how to route everything either tomorrow or friday. I need to route my new smartcord wire anyway.

I hardwired my dashcam to the power socket power lines just at the passenger wheel well. From there I ran the cables through the A pillar and my dashcam sits just behind my rear view mirror.

I bought this kit with my G1W dash cam

I did the install at the same time as my homelink mirror using an add-a-fuse for each. I used some foam tape to keep the wire up in the headliner. Make sure you check out the diagram of the clips on the A-pillar so you know where to apply pressure to remove it without damaging it. Pretty sure I tapped into the Audio fuse in the driver side fuse block for the dash cam. It was a simple install.

I didn't pull on the headliner at all. But I didn't want to jam it up there too much, since I previously had my headliner replaced under warranty for drooping at the windshield. I wrapped the wire(s) with a piece of foam tape so that it would fit snugly between the roof and the headliner and stay there.

I have that "style" dashcam in my 370z and love it. Have had it for over a year now with no problems and have caught all kinds of crazy stuff on it. Here's a link for a better price:
