Carbon Signal DRL nismo

Hi Guys,

Have tried searching....

I almost have all my parts for my nismo conversion.

I have the carbon signal leds and im wondering the best way to wire them. I dont want to use the factory harness as I want them on all the time.

Should i connect to the spare slot in the fuse box in the engine bay?

I connected them straight to the battery to test them when i got them and they got really hot for some reason.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Just wire them to the cigarette lighter under the dash on the passenger side. That lighter turns on with the ignition so it works great.

my CS DRL came int today as well, I searched for a guide but it doesn't seem that anyone has walked through how to wire the new DRL to replace the old DRL.

if I'm wrong, can someone direct me to the guide? (or walk me through what I'll have to wire?)

moving from the 16' bumper to the 16' nismo, so I figure there would already be a power source running to them? and I just splice into that.

thanks!

I'd love to know how to wire them as well guys.

Spaggettio 07-06-2016 06:30 PM

My car is at the panel beater now. The auto electrician is wiring my cs DRLS to the spare slot in the IPDM like below.

Thanks

Can't you just remove the connector from the OEM DRLs and attach it on the CS DRLs?

Spaggettio 07-06-2016 06:34 PM

you can but i want them to be on all the time. 2009-2012 dont have wiring there either.

Sorry, I guess I was replying to cinderblocked since he has a '16.

I haven't taken a look at how the stock DRL is wired in, if it's one wire I'll just splice it in, I was just a little rattled at the thought of wiring something incorrectly.

since I haven't seen a CS DRL DYI, I'll take lots of pictures tomorrow and see how things go

cooltoy 07-06-2016 08:26 PM

It is a harness.

I tried to hook them up to the parking lights and the old DRL harness. I get nothing. I even checked the fuse for the DRLs and it's fine. I'm at a real loss here.

Same... still only the one side lights up. I've sent a PM to Carbonsignal on here, but I'd love if anyone else could chime in

sihtegroftnod 07-11-2016 05:14 PM

Good luck with that...they told me that did not do the LED install but rather sent it to someone to do it for them.

Not much help.

cooltoy 07-11-2016 05:51 PM

Sounds like good advice.

sihtegroftnod 07-11-2016 06:21 PM

I have tried plugging into the parking light and the DRL harness. I've tried tapping in behind the DRL harness and tapping inot the parking light harness before entering the headlamp assembly. (Blue and black wires)

I have tried both side of the car. Not a single one lights up.

I have checked them on my amp for my subwoofer and they light up. I feel I'm beginning to lose my mind. The unfortunate part is that I do not have a voltmeter at the moment. So, I'm kind of trying things blind.

cinderblocked 07-11-2016 07:41 PM

has anyone seen a working set of DRL from Carbonsignal? beginning to think all I have is an expensive way to fill the hole from the stock DRL.

Cooltoy, as always, you're the man.

That cherry car is using greddy led kit from rocket bunny not ones supplied by cs

He also installed Evor drls without any issues.

Spaggettio 07-11-2016 11:34 PM

They are all just Chinese leds you can get from eBay

So?

Spaggettio 07-12-2016 08:59 AM

I grabbed a 9v Battery and tested each LED when i got my from CS. They all worked well individually. I then twisted them together when using the 9v battery and they seemed to fire up only sometimes. The auto elec said today that he ran individual grounds for each LED. He also said that the power wires are only connected at the splade connector after the fuse that he put in. Said everything works fine.

Maybe twisting them together causes some weird resistance?

CS said to me that they wired them to the parkers?

Spaggettio 07-12-2016 09:02 AM

im going to see how they go

if not im buying this

sihtegroftnod 07-12-2016 10:40 AM

CS wired them to the parkers? That's exactly what I'd like to do but of course they don't say how. So frustrating.

I can't even get one to light up by itself. Forget putting them all together.

They light up when I hook them to a known good 12v source on the car.

Spaggettio 07-13-2016 09:12 AM

I recon it's gotta be a grounding thing have you hooked up to the green Parker wire and a ground to the car

Has anyone figured out how to wire them? I have my cs drls and have no idea what I'm about to do. I never had drls as mine is a 2012 model. I just want the drls on whenever the car is on at all times.

Hey mate,

There is a spare ignition slot in the IPDM (fuse box in the engine bay). Look at this link below

http://www.the370z.com/diy-section-d...ights-mod.html

My auto electrician ran a power wire with a 10amp fuse to it and then individual connectors on each led and a switch inbetween my heated seats to turn them on and off

It is BeemaaZ.

The car is 40th anniversary, not black cherry.

future370zzz 12-27-2016 02:32 PM

OK, I must be color blind then. Looks like BC to me.

cooltoy 12-27-2016 03:05 PM

40th anniversary has some purple to it in certain light.

Ok bringing this old thread to life since Im going Nismo conversion and DRL install. Doing it on my 2010 model without any DRL from factory.

So no body replied on here who had the problem with those how did they end up wiring. I did research on google, and pretty much nothing what im looking for. Do not want these run all the time. Pretty much would like those to come on with the park lights.

Also any working problems with Carbon Signal LEDs over time? Any with EVO-Rs???
