Anybody know what these are for and if they're supposed to be attached to the car somewhere? |

Lucky your dealer at least left them in the hatch, mine were nowhere to be found and had to order them. They are supposed to help with guiding the air away from the wheels and lessen the turbulent air going underneath the car.

I had those in my trunk also. I put them on & took them back off after about a week. Every time I turned into a parking lot or driveway with any up angle they would drag & made a terrible scrapping noise. They are now laying in my garage.

Yeah I am guilty of scraping mine a few times too. It happens.

The dealer installed the air dam without my asking, so now I too have that wonderful scraping sound over most any imperfection in the road. If you do not want to hear the scraping sound for some unknown reason, approach from a rather large angle, and all should be well in many cases.

Well I did install them this morning. And I saw that it left about 2-1/2" of clearance right there in front of tne tires. So I will see what happens and they may be coming off as well.
Driving the car down to The Villages this next weekend and we will see how many times they scrape on the whole trip |

No problem, I love the car and it was good lighting, thanks for the feedback! In the future you can also reward people with a Like and/or add to their reputation with the scale icon under their name at the bottom of the post in the middle. Personally I like your comment, that's kind of a hard shot to get as the air dam is usually in the shadows. The inclusion of the little air dam shows Nissan's attention to detail, imagine the cost that went into creating a mold for that part, the research and development, and everything else. It probably cost them $30,000 up front to stick that on the Z (or at least throw it in your trunk). The first time I heard the scraping sound from under the Z I just about flipped out realizing I had damaged my new car, and could not believe I could not find damage anywhere on the vehicle. Turns out it was that little plastic resonator, that makes a horribly loud complaint anytime it gets near an obstruction. Maybe they should be called "bump naggers," because anytime the front end gets near a protrusion they remind us we're not driving a 4 x 4. |
