Chrome Blue Wrap
2 Attachment(s)
Sup Z bros!
So I wanted to get my car wrapped for a few reasons. First, I felt like it would be a great scratch protective solution. And second, I wanted a new look that would be self appealing as well as turning some heads. Im doing most of the install myself and will be getting some help with the bumpers by a friend who wraps for a living. The color I went for was a chrome blue. Reasons being was because its an eye popping color, I like the color blue and chrome, and I no one that I know of and online has a chrome blue 370z. I ordered the material off ebay along with some black carbon fiber for the spoiler and mirrors. I attached a few pics so you guys can have a better understanding of what the outcome may be. Also, should I wrap the roof black or leave it chrome? Also, anyone here that wrapped in chrome or any color in general have any tips and suggestions? Thanks and let me know what you guys think. Pictures will be uploaded once installed. |
People like you are exactly why I sold my Z and never looked back.

I love the blue chrome. Very similar to the Monterey Blue with that sweet chrome bling.
Now I would never wrap my car with it - way too much for me. But everyone has their own taste, and he can do whatever he wants with his own car. I would take a scale model (maybe ~1:20) in that color for sure  |

I read his comment and then noticed that he apparently traded the Z in for a Maxima  |
Do you have anything else done to the car? May look a bit odd if everything else is stock IMO
In for pictures of the finished product |

Only had the car for a couple months, taking everything slow. |
That's one sweet looking blue. Way better than the Bieber chrome. It's going to be awesome! Can't wait for the pics.

OP. You have the power to iggy. It will definitely grab attention probably more than what you intend unless that is what you really want. For me that kind of color are for car shows rather than as a DD.

It's your car man. Do what makes you happy. I'm not a fan of that but it's your choice. Have fun with it, post up pictures when it's done.

Also, don't wrap your Z at all. A wrap is not paint protection. Its temporary and should be removed in 18 to 24 months, otherwise it might not ever come off without destroying your paint or clear coat. Also, ensure whoever does the work, is using premium materials. Why don't you use something thats not so permanent, and can be peeled off easily, like Auto Flex? |

I've cleaned up this thread.
I'd like to remind members to please keep the personal negative comments to themselves. PM's have been sent. Back on Topic! Im not really feeling it but again it's not my Z :ugh2: |

Wrapping a car is not something you just do when you're bored. Its a lot of work, and takes a lot of skill. Your shortcut by buying junk vinyl could result in ruining your clear coat, or never peeling when the time comes. Listen to the people on this forum who are trying to offer you advice to help you out. |

Ive done some research on this vinyl and VViViD is supposed to be some decent vinyl. Definitely not cheap and not too expensive either. Even if I mess up, I dont mind as it will be a great learning experience and will help me with future wraps. |

I got the material in today. After seeing the color, not sure if im gonna hate it or love it. Will look different once installed though. Gonna be a while till you get update pics. Waiting for our tenants to move out the end of this month so i can use the garage.

Make sure you warn members so they can put their shades on before you post pictures. :rofl2:
Good luck with the install |
OP if you are not happy with the wrap you can always do a matte/satin chrome

Matte wraps should ALWAYS be the way to go if you do a wrap. Just my two cents though. That matte looks so much more sleek and slick.

On the bright side - there is no shortage of GTR owners with wrapped cars for you to see how the colors look. ha ha.

Some progress pics. The chrome material is alot harder then I expected. Instead of doing the panels with one piece, I had to split them up so it could be applied. Now my dilemma is, I was doing the roof in 3 pieces and havnt done the middle yet, so it currently looks like a purposely done stripe. Im thinking about doing a white stripe across the length of the car from the front bumper all the way to the back bumper. Id also leave the mirrors white, maybe the entire spoiler white, and the sides of the front lip I bought white. Or should I just go full blue? Any opinions?
Thanks |
Does not look so bad. No stripes please.
Chrome is hard to work with apparently. Just watched an episode of Junkyard Empire, and they wrapped an R-8 in exact same material and could not bend it around the hood, had to do portions in CF. |
What if I split the car into two colors? Leave the right side blue and left white? Unique
|
Unique? No. It just looks like you couldn't afford to wrap the other half of the car :roflpuke2:

is the roll not wide enough, why did you split the roof

After a couple weeks, I can say that this was one of the worst purchases I ever made. The color faded from a blue to silver. Thankfully I was able to get my money back but my times wasnt recovered. Check out my review if you are considering vvivid wrap.

Well at least you got your money back. Did you get any pics when it was still blue?
|
Thanks for the heads up on the vinyl... The blue was looking pretty sharp for a minute.

Dude that wrap job is horrible
|
At least it happened with the cheap wrap. Hopefully you can get someone to help you next time. Why did you wrap some panels in two pieces? Didn't have enough material to redo it in one piece?

glad you got your money back |
