Seibon Carbon Fiber Hood TS Style

Just wondering if anyone else with this hood has experienced that it does not sit straight when put down and just resting, not latched. Is one side higher than the other before latching the sides shut?

This can be adjusted by raising or lowering the latches that surround the center latch with the spring. Also it could be that your hood was mounted slightly crooked, which is easily fixed by loosening the bolts that attach the hood to the hinges, then the hood can be repositioned to your liking.

I just realized, what you asked here...but why do you care how it sits when it's not latched?

Because when i latch it down on the drivers side i'm practically bending it to force it to latch because 1 side is sitting higher than the other. I'm worried about the stress thats putting on the hood and it may crack. I also dont think it's normal to sit uneven like that so wanted to see if others had the issue.

I even put the hood on my living room floor with no hardware on it at all and one side is lower than the other.

Seibon is trying to tell me it's normal.

Having experienced Seibon hoods before on other cars, I would not be surprised if the mold was imperfect resulting in an imbalanced car. You're getting what you pay for with these mass produced hoods.

I bought a "Type-TA" hood for my S14 and it was completely warped. Uneven gaps on both sides, just ****** up.

It's not a cheap hood though so to say getting what I paid for isnt quite right. At a minimum it should sit straight.

I also cannot close mine by just pushing the hood down. I actually let it drop from about 6 inches above the core support and it locks in place and i don't put stress on the drivers side. The whole hood absorbs and distributes the impact. I don't know if that's something you're willing to try but i have been closing mine like that for 2 years now and it hasn't damaged the hood at all.

When your hood is not latched and just resting down is it sitting even?

Even the stock hood should be closed by dropping it. It's the best way. Pressing any hood down is not optimal.

I have a Fugimura vented hood and of the same quality as the two you mentioned and I dropped the hood as Eagle has suggested. It is actually the proper way to close the hood.

My hood wont catch the driver's side latch if i drop it. It's too far away and needs to be pushed down separate from the passengers side. Seibon told me to push down hard on the drivers side to see if it latches. lol

This is what I'm dealing with... and the rubber bumpers dont help. I've tried.

Have you tried realigning it...loosen the hinges and then close it to were the pins line up if possible. Then raise it so it doesn't move and tighten it up.
