Strange Noise

Ok. So I lately Ive been hearing this strange whistling noise in my cabin when I'm traveling at 70+ mph. It sounds like a small hole somewhere and air is getting into. Ill post a youtube video so that you guys can hear it, but you guys have to turn up the volume all the way to even hear it.

Ill try to provide as much detail as I can.

2014 370z with 14.8k miles
The only mod is fast intentions exhaust.
I still have the tires that came with the car ( I think this may be the cause) but I'm not sure

Does anyone else 370z do this?
At first I didn't really notice it. I think it might be getting worse and worse...

Peter take the car in you have warranty, it could be the window seal is leaking air inside.

If it is the window seal, you should be able to press on the window with your hand and make the sound change. Since you can't locate the sound while driving, the passenger window would be where I looked first.

If the seal happened to be loose would that allow water to get in?

peterc05 03-27-2016 08:57 PM

Does anybody know the noise?

Was the windshield ever replaced? Before i got my 370, I had a 350. My windshield got cracked and I had safelight replace it. Once the new one was in, I noticed a wistling noise once I got the car up to speed. They came out and replaced it and It was still wistling after the second windshield. I then took it to a local guy that put a third in. LHe said if the windshield is set to deep or not enough it will let air through hence the whistling. Just food for thought.!!

I bought the car brand new and the windshield was never replaced. I think it's a window seal problem? Because it only happens at highway speeds. I'm probably gonna get a local 370z owner to let me ride in his or have them listen to mine

😂😂😂. Hahaha yeah. I'll take it to the dealer

I have the exact same problem, but I was convinced it was air coming through the firewall where my radar detector wires were coming into the cabin. Therefore I was hesitant to take it in for warranty complaint. Let us know what the dealer finds on yours after they look at it. I also have a 2014 with nearly the same amount of miles. It's always at about 70+ MPH on the highway, and seems to be louder when it's cold or windy outside.

double check that your window is all the way up.

the auto up/down on the Z sucks and sometimes it doesnt put it all the way up to seal upon shutting the door.

i know mine sometimes will sound like a small hole/whistle due to that.

It sounds like a window seal problem if you dont have any leaks or anything like that

stansens 04-08-2016 04:21 PM

Well as mentioned all doors and windows properly closed. You can lightly lubricate the weather stripping around the doors and hatch with spray silicon lube not WD40 or penetrating fluid. They need this maintenance anyways. If the sound changes then have the dealer repair or replace the affected weather strip under warranty.
