Wow.... He should have mentioned that before you bought it....
Bumper sag? Really? Hmm with all the bolts holding it in place mine would never sag...
Kinda disappointed with fly1...

At least make it so the stock under tray will work with the bumper

cooltoy 03-09-2016 11:51 PM

That's wack.

Weird. Stop the madness. You need it whole.

Joe Perry 03-10-2016 12:13 AM

Yeah, I looked into the bumper extensively before purchase, but I guess I never came across the whole under tray thing, like I said, the shop is going to try to make do with the OEM, I'll post pics of that when it's done, then I'll post pics of whatever I manage to come up with.

No going back, MelloYello is the reason I fell in love with the Z and Amuse is finally happening, well the bumpers anyways lol.

Installing Amuse Rep. by Fly1, need help.

I hate to sound like a **** here, but this is why all members should spend the money for authentic kits. No surprises, better quality, better fitment... Do I need to continue?

Sorry this happened OP I hope you get it all figure out, but members should take this as a lesson.

While I understand the value of buying authentic products, it's just not possible for me, I'm only 20 going to school full time and working part time, and can't justify the crazy cost of authentic, I've heard Fly1 makes pretty solid replicas (despite everyone being mad about this), and I've always wanted amuse, so this was really the only viable option.

Even so...if they don't make it anymore with the under tray, I would assume it would be better than this. This literally looks like someone cut it out at their shop. If they wanted to stop making it without it, they should have made new molds for it as well as make any inventory, they wanted to convert to the new one, look more like the new one.

JMHO

Can't you shop make some kind of aluminum sheet to connect the two together?

Apoc370z 03-10-2016 03:50 PM

will these cover the gap?

cooltoy 03-10-2016 04:11 PM

I don't think so. Since that is a replacement for the stock under tray and should be the same size as stock.

Maybe the Nismo one might ( I am guessing it is longer). But the cost of it is greater then the bumper.

I am sure the body shop can manufacturer something for under $100.

Apoc370z 03-10-2016 04:14 PM

oh well, I have some free cardboard if you want some op

Daniel123588 03-10-2016 04:53 PM

Joe,
Like someone mentioned, your shop can easily buy some thin aluminum sheets at a hardware store and easily trim it. They should def start with a cardboard template which Apoc370z can provide LOL. BUt seriously ya.

dkinghl 03-10-2016 10:39 PM

iam glad that i bought from them earlier.mine from flyf1 too. In my opinion it should be one union piece so so can bolt thenundertray to the body.it make me feel more solid

davle712 11-16-2018 11:39 PM

Sorry to bring back a dead thread but I just bought an amuse from Fly1 without knowing this issue now I am in the same boat. What did you end up doing OP?

NextLevel 11-19-2018 10:34 AM

Did they really respond and say people were complaining about the weight???? WHAT WEIGHT? Of Fiberglass vs a plastic underpanel? I can almost guarantee they do it to cut down costs of their mold, material, and shipping.

I hate to see this with Fly1 crap...grr, but I dont' want you to be running into issues. My recommendation and easy fix for this would be to grab the nismo version Zspeed undertray. This should reach all the way out to the cutoff area they created, and will solid/stiffen up the under area. Its a long area from the bolts in front of the oil pan to the front of the bumper facia. We do this with almost all of our nismo fronts which adds rigidity as well as ease of oil change access.

Hope this helps..... .... buy authentic next time ;)
