MainCluster (Combination Meter) CAP removal (SEARCHED)
I'm trying to remove the Cap on top of the gauge cluster to install a CF wrapped piece. I searched the threads but had a video with an expired link. I searched the repair manuals and found how to remove the whole cluster but no mention of just the TOP cap piece.
The front just clips right in but looks like the back has 2 screw mounts ( on the new on I have) but can't access on the existing. Who can help me out???

#1 is the Cap piece I need to figure out how to remove. I downloaded the manual UT couldn't find that particular page you seem to have. Does it show instructions for removing/installing?

You may want to PM bullitt5897. I think he has pulled the interior apart a few times.

haha thanks. So that is how you pull the Tach cover off. It's that black piece on top that I need to get off

I am confused, he does does show how to get the black piece off (#1 on the diagrams). Is that not what you asked to be removed?

#1 on the diagram is a different piece, it goes over/around the tach and covers the gauges on left and right of the tach. It's the black plastic pieces that covers the whole cluster. The video shows how to pull off the piece directly above the tach.

That piece does not come off, the front clips off, but the back in held in with a few screws. I think the whole cluster has to come out. I took this apart 3+ years ago.
Hopefully someone can chime in that's done it more recent than me. but im 99% sure theres 3 screws holding it down.

I think you're right and the new piece looks like there are tabs for 2 screws around back. So you've done this before? The WHOLE cluster needs to come out to get to those 2 little screws ?

Yep, the cluster comes out in one piece as you probably already know.
Get a cheap interior trim removal kit, I got mine for 12$ has like 20 pieces. And start tearing her apart
