ProClip Custom Bracket for 370Z (WIP)
I was able to rotate the mounting section about 30 degrees and it came out much better.
Here are the 3D Cad images: http://i1379.photobucket.com/albums/...psl0gwgulq.jpg http://i1379.photobucket.com/albums/...psust5fsrj.jpg http://i1379.photobucket.com/albums/...psewd2yu88.jpg http://i1379.photobucket.com/albums/...pspmtwcf5i.jpg And here is it on the kick panel: http://i1379.photobucket.com/albums/...psjf8rrzor.jpg http://i1379.photobucket.com/albums/...psmq5c8zis.jpg http://i1379.photobucket.com/albums/...psvi93cto6.jpg http://i1379.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6mdu9i41.jpg Spoilers Below show the WIP:

Seems like a lot of work. I just tucked my excess cord behind kick panel. No visible cord. Problem solved ;)

Plus, I have access to 3D printers at work...so I might as well make use of them lol |
is this for your grocery bag? da hell?

I think those little arms are going to snap off the moment you try to wrap your cable around that with any sort of snugness.

Alright, so here is the first prototype. I guess I didn't account for the right angle, but it turned out quite well. I tested it on my phone today. Here are some pics
http://i1379.photobucket.com/albums/...ps5lqnu7uq.jpg http://i1379.photobucket.com/albums/...pshpiapstb.jpg http://i1379.photobucket.com/albums/...psrhj1c4hp.jpg http://i1379.photobucket.com/albums/...ps3aspjf3h.jpg http://i1379.photobucket.com/albums/...psqabwigfo.jpg http://i1379.photobucket.com/albums/...pscxalkatw.jpg Now here are the reasons why I need to go back and edit the design slightly: Notice the that the top doesn't touch the angled edge: http://i1379.photobucket.com/albums/...psyzabfvdp.jpg The backside is nice though: http://i1379.photobucket.com/albums/...psovnyglsx.jpg And the distance from the panel needs to be increased because it's starting to press into the panel itself: http://i1379.photobucket.com/albums/...ps5vbbdwey.jpg Going to re design and print next week. Will update you guys after the Mark II. |
interesting...sub'd

A for effort, but why not use something that already exists, and looks really clean aesthetics wise?

I'm a Mechanical Engineer, so I like designing and analyzing things. Thought I'd share with others. Thanks for the input though Nick M and madeinjapan. |

It rotates horizontally.

Now as far as aesthetics...it's kind of thrown out the door when trying to incorporate cable management without making this too big and costly. I do like the one the original guy did, but he didn't have cable management. http://www.the370z.com/exterior-inte...ml#post3159183 He used fiberglass to design it, so it allows for a bit more play in the aesthetics department compared to using a CAD software like I am using (it's SOLIDWORKS if anyone was wondering). But I am going to play around with aesthetics after I get the fitment to the panel correct. so we shall see. |
