Hatch release button in cabin?

Has anyone tried to do this? I'm going to attempt it in a week or two. If I get it to work and no one else has done it yet,

Default Hatch release button in cabin?

Has anyone tried to do this? I'm going to attempt it in a week or two. If I get it to work and no one else has done it yet, would anyone like a DIY thread on it?

My Touring has one. I wonder if you could just use parts from the Touring model? Do you have the hole by the steering wheel for the button already?

My car is a touring and doesn't have one

I am curious as to why you want this anyway but maybe I am just jealous because my hatch doesn't actually pop open because of my amuse wing.

My 2011 Touring model didnt' have one, nor does my 2014, other than the cable release under the rear deck carpet.

(ETA: I believe that the Roadster does have a remote release button.

For my part, I valet park at the airport fairly often. The cops that are assigned to check for bombs have to look in the rear hatch as well as under the car and always ask me to pop the hatch. They get peeved when I can't do it, generally suspecting that I'm being obstructive and apparently they can't let me get out of the car. I just resolve myself to sitting and waiting while they cluelessly fumble around looking for the rear release.

l'd be interested in a DIY. I still catch myself reaching for the non-existent release button in the cabin when I know I'm getting out and have to pull something out of the trunk.

So, that's at least one "yes".

I'm interested in a DIY, but I don't spend a whole lot of time in the hatch to need a release button there

But a momentary switch in the center console might be pretty convenient on occasion

if you do it, i´d love to see it. like most others it´s not something that is a huge inconvenience but there are occasions.
