Especially since you have to grab the handle anyway.

Short answer, apparently, is "yes". For some people (maybe not you), a remote button for the hatch is a convenience that may be worth the effort of splicing in a remote momentary-contact switch. This thread is hoping to find a simple way to do it. Last edited by MacCool; 12-25-2015 at 01:40 PM. |

Splicing into the gray wire should be easy enough, but it would be nice to have confirmation that a momentary switch between gray wire and ground is all that's needed. |

Yes. Different people see these things differently. Some think that a remote hatch release is dumb, some think that changing from a white to a red button is dumb. Some even think (gasp!) that adding forced air induction is dumb. People shouldn't judge the value of what other people think is important. |

I don't think that this mod is dumb, just redundant. One still has to go and and use the handle to pull open the hatch, so does it matter whether one presses a button inside or outside.
Now if you could get the hatch to rise automatically, like an SUV - now you are talking.

so looked into being able to make the hatch open and close remotely and that'd be expensive as ****. Playing with the wiring does seem to indicate that a momentary switch between the grey trunk pop wire and ground will release the hatch. I need to get a button then I'll confirm.
