I would love to see one as well, there are all types of situations where it would make my life easier.

Just gotta wait on the parts then I'll start working on it

DeliriousClam 12-23-2015 09:28 PM

And I'll say now if what I'm thinking needs to be done works, it'll be $20 tops for everything

Are you guys kidding me? We are talking about a 370Z not an SUV.

It's been a while since I looked at the wiring diagrams but, IIRC, all that is required is a switch (momentary contact?) and some wire. Diagrams are in the FSM (see link in my sig).

No for the hatch motor to release, you have to 5-wire it with a relay

Can you post which page(s) of the FSM have the hatch release wiring diagrams? Unless the hatch button status is sent over the CAN bus, you should be able to add a switch in the cabin and tap into the wire from the button to the BCM.

I wonder about that, since the opened/closed status of the hatch is part of the vehicle status display. However...

According to Chrisslicks, :

According to the service manual the rear trunk release is wired to pin 67 (color GR) of the BCM. To send a "release" signal the pin is shorted to ground.

So for implementation you would wire a momentary switch (like the SRM switch) spliced into pin 67 and the other wire to chassis ground or electrical ground.

I believe Chrisslicks is correct. Except it may be terminal 61. FSM will tell you which switch is which.

The FSM also has diagrams showing how the wires are routed. You may be able to find an easy place to tap into the wire between the hatch button and BCM.

Oh I know exactly where the wires are in the passenger kick panel. The pin for the hatch release is negative but the motor needs to be 5-wired

The BCM should handle the motor. All you should have to do is tell the BCM to unlatch the hatch.

If you will tell me the FSM page with the wiring diagram(s), I can verify all this.
