Wife's observation on the shift knob, " I still don't understand a $250 shift knob, but if some one tries to car jack you and you don't have your gun you can beat them to death with his. It's freaking heavy as hell."

DeliriousClam 11-23-2015 05:53 PM

I got my buttplug! much nicer than the momo I was using

Tell her you will recoup all the money when ever you decide to sell it.

So this thing does look gorgeous, can anyone explain why this is such a big deal though? I'm a bit lost. Thanks guys!

Putting the price aside (which is crazy high in my opinion) and just focusing on the knob itself, the shape is one of the best feeling shift knobs shapes I have ever felt. The top round portion is perfect for shifting into 1st, 3rd and 5th, while the ridges allow you to grab with your fingers tips to pull back into second and fourth.

^you must get tired of answering the same question so many times lol

cooltoy 11-24-2015 12:04 PM

I am used to it. I did that as part of my job all the time.

TriNismo 11-24-2015 12:13 PM

I read somewhere someone recommend we clearcoat it to prevent discoloration of the turtle..?

Just try to keep it out of direct sunlight.

Mine just arrived. There is a slight difference I noticed between this one and the original. The turtle on the new one is a lot more recessed than the original knob.

tonythetiger 11-24-2015 01:42 PM

dang! you have 2 of those??

the shift knob feels smaller than the oem leather knob, shifting feels pretty good to me maybe because of the added weight

That's probably better. Keeps it more out of harms way.

IMO, the shape feels good when you grab it and the weight of the knob helps the strokes, err throws, of the stick. :driving:

FairladyZ10PG 11-24-2015 05:39 PM

I compared the weight of the TK and my previous PWJDM one.
I couldn't tell the difference by hand and the throw is almost the same except TK feels a bit shorter than PWJDM.
Performance is comparable but the craftsmanship, design, feel, and the red turtle makes up for the $200+ price difference

Mine's has almost 3 years, and I'm still in love!!!.... The physical change I noticed, it is not on the turtle, it is on the chrome surrounding the turtle, its turned copper.

Just wanted to share how my 1st Gen TK Shift Knob came out after being polished. Here it is next to the new 2nd Gen TK Shift Knobs that were produced. Pictures don't do it justice, in person it has a bronze almost golden color to it. Thanks to JDMCainLab for the awesome work!
