Hood not latching on one side
has anyone else had experience with this? Ever since I had my turbo installed, the hood does not latch firmly on the passenger side. Im thinking maybe it had something to do with being jacked up instead of put on a lift when it was installed. Its closed, but when you press on it it still moves a bit. here is a pic: [/URL]
Ive played around with the plastic screws that adjust the hood and its helped to where its not as bad as the pic, but it still bugs me. Any ideas on if it is fixable? |

Are you sure it's latching? If it's not latching the FSM should have adjustment procedures.
I doubt that the frame is bent from being jacked up. The hood may be warped.

Could the arms have bent? Jacking shouldn't have caused something like this. Was the hood removed for anything?

It's the locking mechanism me thinks. My hood would close but would not open! It took about 2 hrs of snooping around and tinkering to figure it out. I had to undo the bolt/nut holding the locking mechanism dozens of times to open to put it all together so I could close and see what happens. I did this over and over again. IT was not fun at all working with no room. Anyhoo, I suspect when the front of the car came off, some screw were misaligned or in my case, over tighten and is touching some part of the locking mechanism. You might want to shine a light and snoop around to see if anything is rubbing or touching another part in there.

I had the same issue after I had the hood popped for over 7 hours. I dropped my hood from the very top. Sounded kind of bad but it fixed the issue. Its a calibration issue.

You could either unscrew/screw in the hood latches to either raise or lower them into the clamps behind the bumber. When I swapped my hood to my carbon one I had to mess with them a little bit to find the right height at which it makes contact

You just have to adjust your hood latches. There are two "hooks" threaded into your hood that drop into the catch on the radiator support. Adjust those "hooks" by removing the plastic guard keeping them from turning, and then threading them either up or down to adjust catch height.

The spring in the lock assembly got weaker and won't lock properly. I diagnosed mine by swapping the springs from left to right. To swap springs you need to remove both lock assemblies. After you do that the hood won't close on the opposite side. Unfortunately you can't buy just the spring. Entire lock assembly is needed.
