Default Messing around with 3M 1080 CF

I was bored yesterday evening so I started messing around with some 3M CF vinyl.

Haven't had the opportunity to see it in the daylight yet to form a better opinion.

I did this to the door handles awhile ago. Very simple work.

Is the leg pads the same 3m vinyl? How did you do that?

Yes, the leg pads are wrapped with 3M.

I removed the leg pads (very easy) and wrapped them. Once I removed them from the console I removed the holding brackets so I could get the vinyl around it with fewer problems. In the past I used a hair dryer but found using an actual heat gun works 1000X's better (picked one up at Lowes for $22). From removal of both to re-install it took around 30 minutes.

Correct.

The pad is cushioned, so when applying I pressed it flat and smoothed out the vinyl. By doing that it allowed the cushion to expand back outward without causing a crease or air pockets in the vinyl. The key to the rounding edges is the heat gun.

Edit: Saw your edit, thanks!

I moved the photos to a new album, which I imagine is the reason you can't see them. I edited the pictures where they sit now, if you still can't see them let me know.

Here's a daylight picture.

that's an atrocious wrap job, This is your finally product?

Not to be an A-hole or anything..

In the end its your car, and you can do what you want.

Just my .2 cents

Lmao wot? I think this is a sarcastic response just going right over my head

Looks good, i see no imperfections in the wrap job, material, corners/edges.

It could be.

I really don't mind tactful criticism, and I know it's not for everyone. I'm still a newbie here and I've seen the back and forth between the real carbon people and the wrap. Let's just say it gets a little heated.

I appreciate the compliment

huh, i did the opposite on the cup holder trim. i like the titanium satin finish so i wrapped the switch bezel and left the ring satin.

next up, HU bezel. good luck with dat one. Ive done it in one piece, but the current one uses one big piece and 3 rings.
