Same here Dreamer, Simple adjustments and the blind spots are taken care of. I keep my car parked outside and the morning dew frosts all the windows and side mirrors, I have to keep cleaning my side mirrors before I drive off to see backing out onto the street. Heated Mirrors would be nice option.

I've found there appears to be blind areas on both sides due to the A pillars but with use the side mirrors do cover those areas. With approaching vehicles I adjust the side mirrors "out" until I can see the front of them as they clear the cockpit rearview mirror. The vehicles should just come into view in the side mirrors just as they begin to leave the rearview. I still find a quick glance over either shoulder is advisable for peace of mind. I do agree the driver's side mirror is a little large and does block your view, somewhat, when making left turns. Not sure of a fix for that. The rear visibility is limited in the 370Z. It reminds me of the Pontiac Trans Am Formula.

my first race instructor told me move the mirrors out, you can look at the side of your car anytime you want to, just get out and walk around, move em out

It's a mutual thing, seriously. If you hang out in the blindspot of a vehicle, and they merge on top of you, well, that's on you, as far as I'm concerned...and that's how *I* ride.

I agree. It's really bad here in Los Angeles since you can legally (correct me if I get the term wrong) whiteline (i.e., squeeze between two cars that are next to each other). Where I grew up that wasn't legal because, well, it's insane. I've seen bikers literally have about 1" between themselves and the car next to them.

I agree that adjusting the mirrors properly will allow you to see a car approach from behind at which point you can watch them in your side mirror, but they DO NOT help in the case of (1) heavy traffic where you're not watching cars approach or (2) you're not watching every car behind you.
For example, tonight I was in congested traffic traveling at the speed limit and I got aggressive because the guy in front of me was going slow and I saw an opening to the right. I checked my mirrors and (tried to) look out the right window and took off to the right. Nobody was there. The second I started to change lanes I saw a gigantic pickup truck that was in my blind spot. I ended up cutting him off. I'm seriously thinking about getting those stupid half round mirrors for the sake of not wrecking my Z. |

That is true... heavy traffic in this car is a bitch. When it's congested, I don't switch lanes unless I absolutely have to.
