I am thinking about painting the strut bar on top of the engine on my 09 370. Any suggestions or tips of people that has done the same.

Remove it and paint it...
Wet sand with 2500 grit. clean up the part really good with paint thinner or brake clean. Paint with color you want. Wet sand 3000 grit. clear coat. wet sand with 3000 grit Then polish it up with some Merzena FG400 You don't have to do all those steps, but if you want it to look professionally done id suggest doing it this way.
