Google Evap core cleaner. Basically they sell cans of this available at most auto parts stores. You stick the tube into the drain of Evap core and the cleaner foams up into Evap core and kills the bacteria from water sitting there.

Then what I would suggest is if you run ac, when you get a few minutes from destination turn ac off but leave fan blowing on high. This will "dry off" the condensation that remains and prevent the water from pooling and growing the bacteria that you likely smell.

I've seen a few of these threads on here. I am not aware of how common it is for 370z. But my wife's oddysey this was/is a known issue. So typically once a year add the cleaner and all is well.

i can see people turning it off during a race to maximize power, but to save gas? not sure, it's not a waste of gas if you are cool inside the cabin and driving in comfort..?

Hey kenchan, where is the drain tube located? Mine gets the moldy smell every once in a while, and I already tried replacing the filter.

trick is to leave your climate control on at all times to run a/c. winter, put car in defog mod. i never encounter such smells.
This approach also keeps the hamsters under the hood comfortable.

Here are two options:

OEM:
27277 1EA0B (7.875" W X 8.5" L X .75" H)

Aftermarket - ATP:
RA 141 (7.875" W X 8.5" L X .75" H)

People have used other brands and sizes, but the ATP RA 141 is an exact match for the OEM size.
I have a 2009 and it came with a cabin air filter. I went to a local parts store and they handed me the filter off the shelf. Simple to install.

if you're driving your Z hard, would you consider that a waste of gas as well?

if you are worried about wasting gas from running the AC, or wasting gas in general, then you are driving the wrong car.

also, FYI, if you are driving down the expressway with the windows down, you are actually using more gas from the drag created from the winds entering into your car.

I don't use aftermarket filters any more. I purchased one based on the recommendations of a member here and it was slightly too big and rubbed on the fan and drove me nuts. Stick to the factory filters!
