Stillen Fascia Fitment Issue

1 Attachment(s)
I have my Z at the local highly praised body shop and they just cant get the bumper to fit properly. If you push it into place in the front so it lines up with the hood properly, it pops out under the headlights. If you line it up properly with the bottom of the headlights, you have a huge gap at the front of the hood??

I've asked the guys at Stillen to make contact with the body shop tomorrow since the guys at the shop are throwing their hands up and ready to put the OEM one on. This would really suck since I really need the extra airflow for the Stillen intercooler and oil cooler.

I've searched on here but haven't found anyone else reporting this but I'm hoping it's just a matter of following a certain sequence in putting it on. Please let me know if anyone has experienced this before.

do they have the foam in place? maybe it requires a different size...?

INeedaDoctor 07-14-2015 07:28 AM

Mine has the same issue and I just assumed that it's supposed to be like this. Can anyone chime in?

DEpointfive0 07-14-2015 09:21 AM

You have to cut the foam, and mine doesn't fit great either

Riptide67 07-14-2015 01:18 PM

my amuse front was that way. The foam had to be removed.

68cam454 07-15-2015 12:21 AM

The body shop already trimmed the foam piece as it states in the instructions.
They have had their main tech on it and he has 25 years of experience doing this. He says he has tried everything he can think of and he has given up on trying to make it fit right. The owner of the body shop is going to talk to Stillen tomorrow to see if there is anything they have missed and if not, we are back to the OEM bumper and I'm out a bunch of money for all the prep work and time spent trying to make this fit.

Mine has some fitment issues too...at the fenders but mainly near the headlight and the center/front portion near the hood where it shows a small gap. Hard to tell from the pics but I can spot them like bird poop when I look at my car :(

The body shop is trying to get the gaps filled in as much as possible since I really have no options right now other than making this work. It's going to cost me a bunch of cash that I wasn't expecting to spend to get it prepped.

mine pops out, but I don't care, its a track car

Chucktown-Z 07-29-2015 07:42 PM

Best of luck guys, but I'm glad I read this...nearly bought a Stillen bumper yesterday; this reaffirms that it's not for me.

I sure would like to know the outcome of this since I have a Stillen fascia sitting in my garage. :/

Wonka2581 04-10-2016 07:41 PM

Maybe it was a bad mood / casting? Why not just ship it back to Stillen and have them send you a new one??

Zoom370z 04-11-2016 01:02 AM

I'm also planning on buying that same front bumper... when I took off mine to install my stillen G3 intakes the oem bumper didn't want to go back in, so I removed the foam and bumper fits like it should but that's the oem bumper.

The final fitment came out much better than the original fit but the body shop had to put a lot of work into it. I'll get some close up pictures posted this weekend. Cooling is indeed improved but I still need to figure out where to move the oil cooler so I can the intercooler temps down. I will also be contacting Stillen to see if they have any interest in making mounting brackets to move the oil cooler behind the drivers side open duct and exit into the wheel well.

Can you take a pic of front of car.. what I mean is can you stand in front of car a few feet back and take a pic? On some pics I seen on the web, it looks like on the fascia bumpers the center like it sticks out a lot but not sure if it's the angle ?

Do you guys see what I mean? Does it stick out or is it the angle?

I have my 34 Setrab cooler mounted underneath the driver side headlight. I couldn't get it to fit with my intercooler. Vented my fender liner as well.

B&W_Evader 04-12-2016 03:22 PM

Wow, scratch this one off the list of potentials.

The gap to the right of the driver side headlight looks quite large. Did you measure it and compare to the passenger side?

killrain 04-27-2016 07:35 PM

MAN! I want this bumper, but not the headaches with fititing it. Any word from Stillen?

It looks like whoever the caretakers are where these photos were taken needs to properly dispose of and replace that flag. It looks pretty tattered and ragged.

Absolutely, mine had the exact same problem. The bumper is a tab wider than how it supposed to be. That’s why it will never fit right. Only one side can fit perfectly. I’m getting more content with the results. I’m wanted a authentic bumper that’s affordable. It looked great and functional. You get what you paid for.
