I don't like a shiny dash so I use distilled or deionized water and a lint-free cloth. If I run into something that water won't take off, I'll spray a very small amount of low-gloss protectant on my cloth, clean the whole dash to prevent color variations, then wipe off as much as I can with a clean cloth.
If someone else is cleaning the car, I tell them not to use ArmorAll-type products at all - "If it's not paint, glass, or chrome, I don't want it shiny." I've heard a lot of horror stories similar to TexasChuck's - dash gets worse after using a protectant on a less-that-perfect dash. If you want to use protectants, start using them before the dash shows any signs of aging.

maybe get a material expert comment on the ingredients in their product vs the material nissan uses on their dash?
then sue diamondbright for compensation if they were the reason. id also check with ur insurance people to see if dat can be covered. |

some ford, chevy and dodge trucks split their dashes in about 5 years.

Hi Iwan72, I'm from Brunei and my Z is exhibiting the same problem. Like yours, mine's rarely driven, kept in a garage and when driven, mostly at night. Only 46 thousand kilometers in 4 years.
I would suggest you hound Boustead and insist they fix it under goodwill warranty. I'm doing exactly that and waiting for them to give me a decision. You should not have to fix this out of your own pocket. What a joke. Cracked dashboard in a car in this day and age is rare regardless of age and brand. Best of luck to you. |

Hi viceroy666,
I know it has been a while since you posted your message. I managed to get the dealer here to replace the entire dash, I had to pay the labor charges which I wasn't too happy with but they did pay for the part. Considering my car is out of warranty, it's not too bad I suppose. The dash is still ok at the moment but I expect it to crack again in the future unless Nissan has changed the material used to make the part which I doubt. |

FWIW, garaged, damp towel only for cleaning and windshield shade when parked outside in the sun... dash is still perfect. I'd be pissed if this happened to me but my guess would be the protectant killed it.
