Put mine on just the other day. Did not have any problem getting the stock knob off using a strap wrench.

The new shift knob feels great.

so for those of you who have trouble removing the shift knob does it just not unscrew when you just grab it and unscrew it? i want to make sure i didn't mess anything up on my car! mine just unscrews pretty easily. there's some fiction from unscrewing it but nothing major.

Bumping this from the dead for those looking to do this. I read it somewhere here, but just get a strap wrench. I tried with vice grips, towel, hand, etc, nothing worked. This morning I went and picked up a strap wrench (get a proper one at the hardware store, I tried the Walmart one last night, it just kept slipping). I was able to loosen the shift knob instantly with the proper strap wrench.
