I don't know, they are waiting on the approval to be a vendor before they post.

I did notice one thing I wanted to add about the first pic and the yellow cars cage. I see their main hoop is mounted to the floor up on the gas tank ledge. In a full roof impact I don't think that's the best location. I don't think that ledge is stronger than doing it to the floor like RPM does. Under the main floor in that location is our square box frame rails. That floor plus the strength of the frame rail underneath should be crazy strong! Up on the ledge I believe that's thin sheet metal again and I'd hate to see the main hoop punch through the floor there. It's happened!

Hotrodz 08-07-2015 09:02 AM

The front bars are mounted through the frame!

MAMotorsports 08-07-2015 09:52 AM

I have actually spoken with RPM a little bit also about being active on here. And would be more than happy to set up a group buy if they would like to work with me on that also!

If anyone is interested in Pricing, PM me as there are a few options we can go over that would affect the cost!

Thanks
-Daelen

I am reading this thread with great interest.

I am not knocking the RPM cage. Looks like better than average for bolt-in. I think there are two things that make me wanna go custom.

1) what synolimit mentions about the rear mounting points. I am not saying they wonīt hold (I am not an engineer), but I donīt think they are in the strongest spot.

2) i donīt think it utilizes the interior space as well as it could. This is prob ok for shorter guys, or folks that like to sit really close to the steering wheel, but I think it could be moved out.

Then again, I could be completely out of my mind since I have never built a cage. hahaha.

Itīs probably about a year out for me, but I will post back to this thread when itīs done.

KevinN 08-12-2015 04:08 PM

definitely interested in a group buy, any updates with RPM?

RPMROLLBAR 08-13-2015 02:25 PM

Hi Everyone,

We are interested in doing a group buy for everyone on here. We have a new vendor that is a sponsor here and we will work through him to make sure you all get what you're looking for. We will do some very special pricing along with some freebies for anyone that gets in on the group buy.

I do want to address some of the concerns that were brought up on this thread. First and foremost I have 25 years experience building professional drag racing cars that run in the five second zone. RPM is a division of our hardcore race car division. I follow NHRA specifications on all designs which are usually more stringent then SCCA/NASA rules. The attachment points need to use a 6x6 plate as per rules, the rear shock towers as strong as they may be won't facilitate the use of a sandwich plate which is a requirement, the wheel well method has been tested numerous times over the years. As for the main hoop attachment it MUST be attached at a point that is lower then the driver's seat otherwise the main hoop will not protect the driver in a roll over. Although the upper shelf is a strong point it doesn't adhere to the sanctioning body rules. Most entry level classes would be ok w/the shelf, the NHRA or SCCA sanctioning bodies would likely take exception to the shelf.

If you have questions feel free to ask or give us a call at 503-486-7011

Also we TIG weld all of our rollbars including mild steel. We build our bars in either a .120 dom mild steel or 4130 chromoly in .083 or .095 wall depending on whether you road course or drag race. We look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,
Rob

Any details on how this mounts? Specifically as they relate to backer plates, modifications to interior, etc.

TerribleONE 08-31-2015 09:36 AM

Nice setup ^^

It secures to the floor (behind the seats) rear chasis and seat belt upper mount.
I did report in my blog with supporting pictures, but it is written in russian
As of interior, I've cutted three plastic details on each side, and there's no way to avoid that. It was so painfull to do so, but result is worth it!
here is link... Rollbar

This is my first Japanese part ever which came without installation instruction and even single sticker ! Crisis ??)

Anyone wanna weigh in on whether or not this would pass tech for hpde/pdx?

around 2k

Rusty 08-31-2015 05:58 PM

Nice looking bar. But think that is really a 4 point bar. A 6 point bar will have legs going past the front seats. 4 point bar-main hoop and 2 rear legs. 6 point bar-main hoop, 2 rear legs, and 2 front legs.

AntiVenom 08-31-2015 07:02 PM

You are right Rusty. I am pretty sure the reason they call it a 6 point is because it uses a welded flange/bracket that lines up with the shoulder harness seatbelt bolt. Hence a 5th and 6th connection point. Not sure though.

Some counts 5th and 6th shoulder harness as a points, some not. Depends of regulations.

I don't think anyone is under the impression that this is a proper 6 point(as indicated by my "you are right Rusty" statement). Only that it does indeed have 6 mounting points if you include the ones that secure it to the factory seat belt holes. They also make a version with side bars (I.e. true 6 point) maybe they call it an 8 point though haha.

The salient question is whether or not you'd pass tech for hpde/pdx. Prob not I am guessing.

All right, let it be 4 point :icon17:
I did consider the rollbar with side bars previously, but suddenly changed my mind and decided to go 4 point bar as I'm driving car mostly in the city.
Here in Russia we don't have hpde/pdx

There's 1 big issue with this roll bar. It would not comply with any SCCA, NHRA or NASA spec. The continuous bends at the top of the ceiling, as well as the add'l bends near the floor behind the seats are not compliant and actually take away from the overall integrity of the roll bar itself.

Its a bada$$ looking roll bar, but just would not pass or meet any safety regulations here in the states.

Right, there're no approvals, but who cares when the car is not racing in professional series

Looks like I will be needing one of these if I want to track my car. For safety sakes I will need a HANS device for sure due to my neck injury and a roll bar will be a must. A harness bar won't cut it. I really want to run Road Atlanta and Daytona one day. Even if it is just once.

still looking for a good off the shelf roll bar for a 6 point harness setup, looks like the trackart roll cage and the autopower ones are the popular ones. but this thread seems to have different opinions about them.

since I'm not going full race mode, just looking for a bar that can
1. mount 6 point harness
2. wont kill me if i dont wear a helmet (if im driving on the street)

Spooler 06-05-2018 09:53 AM

I think I am going to pass. I am going to go the route of a full roll cage IF I do this. Custom quality cages are not cheap.

NextLevel 11-14-2018 11:55 AM

I will start keeping up with installs we've done and as clients/dealers of our's have completed their installs of our cages.

Well chit, the wifey says I have to get one. I am debating the 5 point RPM rollbar or the 6 point. I am leaning toward the 6 point. Just be done with it.

Get the 6 point with the removable sides.
