Very few dealers know how to wash a car. It's usually the lowest employee on the totem pole that gets the job. Some 17 year old kid that drives an '82 accord that's got more primer than original paint (but a $5,000 sound system) is the one 'detailing' it. So they grab a scrub brush, a dirty rag, maybe a razor blade to take the adhesive off from the wrap. Then if they really think they know what they're doing, they'll take a buffer, some cheap silicone filled polish and have at it.

My 10 year old truck looks better than probably 95% of the brand new cars on any given dealer's lot.

But they'll spray some Armor All on your tires to make it all look sweet. :)

yah, warm it up, peel up the corner with your nails and just peel it off.
any residue you can use WD40 or googone, etc. clean up with alcohol and wax.

Is goo gone available at most auto parts stores? I have autozone and o'reilys out here. I'll go out during lunch today and see what I can find.

Require payment for advertising space. They will remove it promptly for you free of charge.

I get my Goo Gone at the Dollar Spot at Target.

Especially important when the dealer is a scumbag. I put what I believe is a reputable dealer's plate frame on until I get what I think I want, in my hands to make sure it isn't a piece of junk. (before I buy) Nothing more annoying than taking a chance on something online and then getting a POS.

I would never let dealers wash any of my former cars or bikes. I'd rather drive (ride) in on a dirty set of wheels and get them back that way, then get a car back half washed by some loser teenage shopboy with a wash bucket full of gravel and no soap. Driving around in a dirty car is a drag, but driving around in a dirty car that looks like a 5 year old washed it is just plain embarrassing. Now you're forced to wash it properly right away.
Oh, and don't vacuum it either, thanks. If somebody is stupid enough to scratch the plastic inside somewhere, I want the idiot to be me.
I picked up my Z with less than 50 miles on the clock and only just now did I discover some real fine scratches on the glovebox door. I'm still pissed.

WD40

Just about the only thing that crap is good for, IMO. We used to use it to remove grafitti. I wouldn't put it on my car's paint though, so use it at your own peril. Goo Gone is better.

Googone stinks literally.. I hate that smell

BuckeyeZ 03-06-2015 08:13 PM

Got my car right off the truck. I told the dealer if it had a sticker on it when I came to pick it up they could keep the car and I would go elsewhere.

I can't believe how many people leave those unsightly pieces of advertising on their cars.

When I bought my '85 300ZX I told the salesman I didn't want one of their stupid, ugly badges put on it. He actually started trying to convince me of the importance of having one by telling me that it would be valuable if someone saw me broken down on the side of the road, they could call the dealership. Yes, boys and girls, once upon a time there were no cell phones.

I was unable to hide my surprise at hearing one of the stupidest things ever said, and I told the guy if the car was going to be breaking down, I didn't want it. He didn't offer a counter-argument.

Forget the goo gone........ Use good old Ronson or Zippo lighter fluid.
It works great, and doesn't hurt paint or plastic.

It even takes grease stains out of fabric or rugs.

That's because it's brand new and no one else has done anything to it besides maybe fart in it lol.
