You are going to have a tough time finding one let alone the price... you might be able to order them from your nearest dealer - but search around. I believe there is a thread somewhere that talks about this...

That link helps, and i believe I found the thread u are talking about. It is really informative. Ill try and put a link in here next time I find it. I also would like to know whats the negatives of buying a replica body kit instead of the real thing? besides the fact that its not the real thing...

replica is good as long as it fits man ... but you take the risk of it not fitting "perfect" - but basically it comes down to this - if your replica is not 100% fitting right - i am sure the body shop can make it fit 100% - just takes a lot more $$ and at that point you will kick yourself not paying for the real thing

Nissan just inflates the price so it creates more of an "exclusive" item, basically stops non-Nismo owners from buying just the body kit. Though solid replicas should arrive soon(ish), but fitment will be the one thing to worry about.

Just remember! If its cheap its not good, if its good its not cheap. Just because the word "replica" comes into play doesn’t mean its bad so don’t let some people discourage you. What you want to do is first make sure you aren’t the first person to purchase a replica when it comes out from what ever company. And if you are make sure you are getting your moneys worth. If you are paying anything under $1000 expect to pay at least $500 + so it fits like OEM. Its hard to say that since no such kit exists yet. Just don’t forget it costs roughly $800 to paint two bumpers and two side skirts. If you are paying well over $1000 for the kit then it should be better. $1000 is a ball park price for a DECENT kit with DECENT fitment. Just remember the more you pay for the kit, the less you'll pay to have it installed right. The less you pay for a kit, the more you'll pay to have it installed right.
The cheaper the kit is that means the less quality materials and time is going into the kit. Nobody is going to work for next to nothing when it comes to fiberglass work because its frustrating, takes a long time, needs lots of experience, and isn’t good for your health. Our company is based on fiberglass and carbon fiber work. I'd never make a kit for less than $1000 even for a ricy civic. Sorry to keep rambling but you should also take into consideration... Most people dont think about this but the last thing you'd want to do is purchase a body kit that is worth less than the OEM body (bumpers and sides). If the OEM body costs $1100 and your kit costs $700. Not only the value of your car goes down because you modified it with aftermarket parts, but it went down even more because you basically removed $400 worth of parts from your car. You'd hold the same value if you kept your original body panels and just removed your passanger seat and threw it out. Many don't think about that but it makes plenty sence. |

^ Good argument but dealers and KBB does not care about inflation of parts. They look at any aftermarket modifications that aren’t acquired by the dealer as lowering the value of the car. I’m not sure why but it could be because aftermarket parts aren’t tested under set guidelines and most aftermarket companies don’t have the proper product liability. Again I could be wrong on the reason. But I do know aftermarket parts diminish the value.\
But this isnt what the thread is about. |

however his argument wasnt about resale value He was simply stating that if part A is basically the same as part B and part C but is more expensive than B and C then part A will probably not sell as well, Simple economics.
