Hotchkis sways definitely weigh more than stock bars on the Z/G. No idea how much though

I might have missed it, but has anyone ever thought of removing the sound damping material and seeing how much weight that removes?

i did, but we didn't weigh car before / after... would be guessing but maybe 20-30 pounds for material in cabin

seriously? when i removed my interior - well aside from the dash, there wasnt THAT much sound deadening material in the car. its relatively sparse..

I know there have been a few mentioned. I can't remember the models but they are made by Braille and Optima as well as a couple other manufacturers. The ones that were recommended for street use generally weighed around 15 pounds.

As for the sound damping i was expecting more than that, but it's nice to know that there isn't too much weight there.

From my research the yellow top ones (forget the brand) and braille batteries are both very good compared to stock, but the down side is you cannot let them sit for very long or they just die. I think for the braille battery I was looking at 3 days tops, but you can just throw on a trickle charger if you plan on being gone for a long period and be fine also.

I agree with Dreamer. The best lightweight ones are braille. The best is the B3121 if you're worried about leaving it out too long or worried it will go dead. It only weighs 21 pounds, which is still good, especially if you're relocating the battery to the back, which improves weight distribution. The other 15 pound batteries are good too, it just depends on your preferences

I was about to jump on a braille battery with trickle charge kit just in case, but same quality and better price is always a plus.

The PC680, I've seen people use it for years without issues...

Anyway, so I'm starting to get into taking weight off the car....just wondering what everyone is doing, has done or is thinking about doing to take weight off without making big sacrifices.

I know I can get rid of my interior, but thats not realistic. I'm looking for things that we can all do with some slight modifications. Getting rid of things we dont need, inexpensive part swaps, etc.

I'll throw in the first one:

You can very easily remove 5lbs off the car by removing the hatch weight. All you have to do is pull down the plastic from the hatch and look around the middle, there is a big black square weight held in with like 6 screws. I guess its to make the hatch more weight-neutral when swinging it down and up. Completely pointless. Take it out...go faster.

I had thought about stripping the interior to remove the sound damping and then replacing the interior, but that's a lot of work for just 20-30 pounds.
