Thats probably the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Those spare tires are not made to go anywhere near speeds you would see at a drag strip. Hense the reason it wasn't allowed.

I didn't talk to any of them about it, but I saw they they changed the tires, which were obviously the weak point. I wouldn't have trusted the rims for the minimal gain, but more power to anyone who doesnt mind risking their own car.

Surprised no one listed the Battery. So many super lightweight choices out there. Voltphreaks 5 lb batteries to Braille 9-11 lb batteries if memory serves. Thats a good bit of weight to lose epecially for track rats. You take out the stuff DD listed at 50lbs[mats, tools spare etc] and replace the battery with a lightweight one that almost 100lbs less before you even replace the seats, rotors, suspension etc. Just my laymans 2c..Love road racing more that 1/4 mile but have yet to cut my teeth at it at any real track.

I was thinking on my way to work this morning. What if we pulled the spare and moved the battery back there? Wouldn't that alieviate the affor mentioned weight distribution problem?

Yes, it would definately help.

Side Note: I will try and find a few minutes to weigh the stock battery today.

Very good point about the battery change. A braille is definitely the way to go. I will put that up on the thread. Good call Snakebitten. Voltphreaks batteries are outside of our scope. They are $2,000 for 5lbs less weight. At least out of my scope hehe. Rep .

So I'm assuming the stock battery is going to come in at around 45-55lbs. That should offset the weight reduction of the spare, mats and tools. Also Considering Im going to get the 15lbs battery...comes out to over a 100lbs loss between that, the exhaust and the battery. ( Sweet )

I ran a Odyssey battery in my Mazdaspeed6. Even after an hour of engine off, stereo on it fired right up.

Odyssey PC680

My understanding is that these batteries are equal to Braille (made by the same company) and are quite a bit cheaper.

PC680 works fine for daily use. It weighs in at 14 lbs. and I can get you one for $121.95 + Shipping.
