I recently had my calipers powdercoated by Mike, so I decided to weigh the sport package calipers before I get them installed. The front calipers weigh 12lbs & the rear weighs 6lbs.

I have the 15 lb braile bat. I have to keep a battery tender on it or it will not start the car , My garage temp is between 38 and 47 degress F. Its a pain. In the summer if do not drive it for a week i have to put a 2 amp tricle charge on it for 40 min before it will start.
At the drag stip i accidently left the ignion switch in the on postion with the moter off and it killed the battery in less that 30 min. it saved me 20 lbs. I bought the 1.75 amp charger from a GM dealer, its the one he sells for the corvette. Z.

Quick question:
How much of a benefit do you guys think there would be for getting a 50/50 weight distribution from the stock 53/47? It's certainly doable, but I'm curious about how beneficial the change would be.

Weight Reduction - NASIOC
here is a link to the Weight Reduction thread on NASIOC, the link to the anal iwsti guy are in there, as well as about 10 years of little weight savings things. has anyone removed their ABS? Carbon Fiber hood, roof, hatch, doors. Home - Aerosim Research Ltd. ^ these guys will pretty much make anything in carbon fiber, they also make wrx/evo roofs. AMS performance also makes carbon roofs. also, some serious weight can be saved by taking out some of the overkill safty brackets. even more if the car is track only. Don't know if anyone has noticed this, but I think the weights listed for the OEM 19's are wrong...
http://productcat.bridgestonetire.co...pp_1369443.pdf Apparently front and rear tires are around 26.7 lbs? Is this not correct? EDIT: Wait -- listed heavier on Tire rack?! Is that the weight people are going by? I guess it's more likely to be accurate...?

I read on Nissans website that they feel this weight ratio is perfect for the car and the way the suspension is setup. But there's still understeer from the factory. But that's to keep it somewhat safer for novice drivers. But I Still feel there plenty of benefit from a 50/50 setup if you set your suspension properly.

So still no weights on the base model wheels/tires? I may have to just weight them myself.
Anyways, I was googling around for wheel weight and found a really nice post on another forum. It has some models and sizes not listed on the wheelweights.net spreadsheet(i have a feeling that thing is a bit out of date): Wheel Weight Comparison - BMW M3 Forum (E90 E92) The other nice thing is they are all pretty much right around the sizes you would be looking at for a 370z. |
