Z1 Motorsports: VQ37 Intake Plenum Power Mod 370Z & G37
Z1 VQ37 Intake Plenum Power Mod 370Z & G37 The Z1 Motorsports VQ37VHR Intake Plenum Power Mod is a stock intake plenum custom modified to produce significant gains in horsepower and torque across the the entire powerband. This plenum fits all models with the VQ37VHR engine, including the 370Z & G37. This upgrade is easy to install and can be swapped out in around half an hour. In order to maximize the potential of the higher flowing Z1 modified VQ37 intake manifold, we recommend several other basic upgrades (all available here in the Z1 VQ37VHR 400HP Package) as well as custom tuning at Z1 Motorsports. It's best to have your car custom dyno tuned to safely maximize the potential of performance modifications and we at Z1 Motorsports tune more VQ37s with the Uprev Osiris software than anyone. However if having your car tuned at Z1 is simply not an option, based on our library of experience, we can provide a map well suited for your specific upgrades through our mail in flash service. The Z1 intake plenum produces more peak power and area under the curve on a Natural Aspirated VQ37VHR than any intake manifold on the market and for a modest price. http://www.z1motorsports.com/imageGa...ManivsM370.jpg For your convenience we offer the option to pay a refundable core charge and send your stock intake plenum back after install of the Z1 plenum in order to eliminate downtime. If you return a core please pack it carefully. If we receive it in damaged condition, such as any broken plastic air inlet nipples, no credit will be given. Nice! Can I install this and run it without getting a tune? Will it be safe?
On the dyno, is that the only mod that Z has? |
Z1 told me you absolutely need a tune with this
|
What gains will this produce on a forced induction Z? My Z is on spray and I was going to pick up an m370
|
I spoke to John and he said the tune is highly recommended. But obviously getting a tune gives you the best power output.

What exactly is modified inside the manifold?
|
This is on my short term mod list, along with headers!
|
A tune is highly recommended or even just a reflash would help(I have a huge library of tuned files).
|
Is there a group buy possible for this?

How much hp will this mod ALONE make?

Is that after a tune? I'm looking into this intake manifold for my next mod...what's the warranty on it? Will I get those power gains if I order the Osiris standard and comes w/ the maps alreay programmed into the tune? Or do I need a custom tune?
|
with all the mods i have currently is this even worth adding? also i'm guessing i would have to get a new tune after adding this?

To reword the question... Can the car be run safely without having it tuned with the intake manifold? I dont mind if im not making the most HP, but then again I dont want my car running lean and damaging the motor. |

Any new word on this? Any dyno independent dyno runs?
|
Is this using a oem VHR manifold or the 350z HR manifold?
|
oem

In stock!
|
curious about this....i have the motordyne manifold...wondering how this compares
|
Interested, but I would like to know what is modified inside or is it only ported and polished?
Also, I'm looking to do your Z1 Sport brake upgrade package in the summer (with the 2-piece front rotors and some other upgrades) and was wondering if you had any forum pricing and/or teacher discounts and/or cheap batich discounts? Thanks in advance. |
I dont think they are going to indulge what exactly they did to make the extra power...

I want to purchase this manifold and get some independent dyno numbers. Would Z1 be willing to help pay for dyno time? I can show base run w/ stock manifold(current tune), Z1 manifold run (current tune), and Z1 manifold w/ re-tune from a reputable shop in NH. Granite State Dyno DynoJet 224x.
Obviously, I don't expect them to cover all the costs, but if they want to PM me, we can get some independent dyno numbers and discuss this further. If not, I'm probably just going to purchase and install the manifold myself and hit the dyno for a re-tune. It won't give us the whole picture, but we'll get an idea. I'm looking to do this by Friday of this week. I dyno-ed there 304/248 w/ FI exh. Stillen g3 and ART pipes SAE corrected. |
that dyno is pretty hard to make out. Can we get one with an averaged run between the 2 so it's easier to compare? The only thing clear form this dyno is that there's more peak. I can't make out which line is which for the rest of the curve.

would this mod require new gaskets?? i am about to click the "checkout" button. :)
|
I reused the gaskets from my stock manifold and throttle bodies. The gaskets are rubber and mine were not crushed or deformed in any way. Also, I remember reading somewhere that new gaskets are unnecessary.

Let us know how it works out. I've been waiting for more data. Tapatalk |
I am going to Z1 on the 19th. I will get a before and after dyno with the Z1 Upper plenum. I will keep yall up to date. :tiphat:
|
How much they charge you with the dyno tune?
|
Ive already tuned there before so im not sure. ill let you know as soon as I find out.
|
Thanks would like to know also if there is much significant improvement in performance worth the time and investment.
What I'm really looking for is an increase in torque. |
Last time I tuned there. I was 312/258 with G3 intakes and Injen exhaust. Now I have test pipes and under-drive pulleys, will get tuned with these mods and then have Z1 install the plenum and re-tune again immediately.. I have a 25 row oil cooler on so I should get consistent pulls since this will all be on the same day. I too am looking mostly for torque gains.
|
Got the car re-tuned over the weekend. I did a before run which was 295/245. After the Z1 plenum I was at 305/254 this was within an hour of each other. It was a rainy damp day so that might be why I was at less power than my previous run a few months back. I will have the dyno sheet up as soon as I get it from John. I will be going back again very soon for another re-tune due to unforeseen circumstances.
In all I can say that I feel a lot more power in the mid range and all around. I will give a more detailed review as soon as I get the car tuned one more time. |
