Sixth_Vang 07-13-2009 10:19 AM

Still waiting for a PM, also I have a AT. It shouldn't make a difference in fitment though right?

nogoodname 07-13-2009 10:42 AM

^^ no difference at all.

are the filters lifetime or need to be changed

INTENSEPOWER 07-14-2009 01:37 PM

Filters can be cleaned with soap and water if needed.

370Z Purist 07-15-2009 01:58 AM

So, basically they're like good K&N's?

nightfire 07-15-2009 10:47 AM

What are the power gains?

JvKintheUSA 07-19-2009 03:59 PM

Look great but we need performance - dyno chart please

INTENSEPOWER 07-23-2009 05:21 PM

10-12 wheel average on these intakes.

XwChriswX 07-23-2009 11:13 PM

Compared to Stillen Gen III Intakes... Better? Worse? Numbers to boot? lol

The following I copied from 370ztune.com website about the Stillen Gen III (hope you don't mind Hunter)

The power result: A dyno-proven 18.5 horsepower gain at the wheels on the G37 Coupe and 17.5 horsepower on the 370Z. This translates to an estimated 20-22 horsepower gain at the flywheel! For G37/G35 Sedan owners, gains are 14 horsepower at the wheels. No other intake for the VQ can match these power gains!

But note that this was probably the MAX gains they ever saw on these cars with this intake, unlike the above mentioned numbers for the HKS which are an avg, so I'd say they are probably right about the same or maybe the HKS are just a few HP shy. Now lets throw the JWT Duel Pop Intake into the equation!

Note: Nm I found the WHP on the JWT and it says 6.5-10 so it's still looking less than the Stillen. The only think with the Gen III that I don't like is the fact that they wrap all the way around and therefore cleaning the filter is a pain. Also they might not work too well with a body kit but I'm not sure, anyone know?

So the short ram vs CA setup really doesnt matter? Or did I miss that?
Also, I'm not a fan of the pop chargers cause of the black what looks to be like rubber tubing that has all the zig zag appearace of a stock intake to it. Not to special and looks like it doesnt let the air flow smoothly to me...

I've always thought that a CAI will give a few more ponies than a short ram but it's tough to tell without a dyno, I don't usually like to go by what the manufacturer says.

quoted from hks website

"The Racing Suction Reloaded intake series utilizes HKS’ high-flowing wet 2-layer dual density polyurethane filter element for applications looking for the absolute in performance. The Racing Suction Reloaded intake kits offer the same simple and easy filter element replacement process as previous generations; avoiding the need to wash or re-oil the intake filter."

XwChriswX 07-24-2009 01:57 PM

My understanding of the difference between CAI and Short Ram is:

Short Ram: Good for HP Now, less distance for air to travel

CAI: HP for Later, lower IAT's

That's what my reading has led to.. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Are these filters lifetime just needing washing, or do I eventually need to get new filters all together?

INTENSEPOWER 07-24-2009 05:03 PM

The HKS filters are washable so essentially "Lifetime", nice researching on your guys part.

Assumed that meant, you get a new one when it runs out, not that you wash and reuse... my mistake.

zulus370Z 07-28-2009 06:56 PM

Can I get a PM on the price please?
thanks

What is the filter efficiency?

INTENSEPOWER 08-11-2009 12:45 PM

I haven't had that one asked yet

I can see if HKS has an answer for that one. I know its much more efficient than factory.

Sent them an email...

kenchan 09-14-2009 09:46 AM

do you need to cut part of the engine cover for this? Looks like the forward portion of the cover is missing in that pict?

INTENSEPOWER 09-21-2009 02:22 PM

Not that I am aware of

Daishi 09-23-2009 12:37 PM

hey bro i got a pm from you on 9-14 with your special prices.. did they change? i just took a quick peek on ebay and the hks intakes can be had for cheaper on there.. why are these intakes so damn expensive? lol.

INTENSEPOWER 10-13-2009 05:04 PM

Its HKS, thats the main reason it is so expensive.

My pricing is absolutely more than better/competitive now!

You have to clean the filters on a G3 intake what, ever 50K miles? Might even be more than that since they're so well protected.

As for pain in the butt factor, not a problem. 10 minutes to remove the fascia, 15 minutes to put it back on.
