Intake Wrapping
Last time I datalogged my ECU using the UpRev cipher, I noticed that my intakes temps were around 37 degrees Celsius even though the ambient temperature was around 24 degrees. I have a Stillen Gen 3 CAI. I was on 2nd doing between 30-75mph
I was thinking maybe getting them wrapped with header-wrap might help bring it down in attempt to squeeze out a few more ponies before getting a tune? What are your thoughts? |
Unfortunately the one person who has done it does not post much anymore, and not sure if he did much data logging.

looks like hooker boots lol

I've contemplated the same thing, there is a hot of radiant heat bouncing around in there so a 2 or 3 stage of wrap, insulate plus reflect might improve things the most.
Would be nice to know what wstar's results were. As I recall his early impressions were fairly promising but I don't know what his actual measurements and testing scenario was. |
I was quoted around 100$ for the job, might be worth giving it a shot and re-datalogging?
I don't trust my butt dyno lol How much added horsepower can I expect from a 10 degrees Celsius drop in my intakes temp? |
It's not so much how much HP you are gaining but rather the HP you are losing, which was the whole purpose of the CAI kit in the first place. By keeping the intake air as cold as possible you should realize the full potential of the intakes which could be as much 15+ hp over stock.

Thanks for your replies guys...
I'll update this thread tmrw hopefully with some more data logs of IAT & reflash |
