Euro Maps on US Nav System

Anyone imported a US spec Nissan to Europe and successfully gotten Euro navigation maps working?? I can't believe how clueless these dealers are - US and in Europe.

I talked with a dealer here in Stuttgart, and they said that is wasnt possible...pffftttt...I dont buy that. I dont own a 370z yet, but I've been saving for it...so I've been asking a lot of questions about it to owners around here...no one really knows. Have you tried contacting Nissan itself?

I've talked to EVERYONE and NOBODY knows anything when it comes to the Nav systems. One dealer here in Austria told me that they'd have to pull the entire computer and replace it, but couldn't offer any guarantee that it'd work.

Even the sub $200 Garmins and TomTom units feature the option to switch maps based in where you are. You mean to tell me the $1800 option on my new Z can't do the same thing?

I've spoken with Nissan North America - clueless. Dealer - same. I've called and talked to Nissan Europe twice and on each occasion they took down my info and said they'd look into it and get back to me. In both instances they've completely ignored me.

Everyone I've talked to always gives me the same song and dance "Contact your dealer" who has been unable to find out either. Even when I've contacted my dealer's service department those guys didn't know either and on one occasion basically hung up on me. They transferred me to the guy that sold me the car - who at this point really has no incentive to help - he has my money.

I have to say that post sales support on Nissan vehicles, at least in my experience, is utterly pitiful. Reading some of the other posts here it seems that these folks have had similar experiences. I'm a long time (Z) Nissan owner, but this will be my last one. Such poor support on such a high dollar item is inexcusable. If I'd bought it from wall-mart I'd have returned it by now (and had better support doing so).

Final attempt: I've spent the $300 bucks on a euro nav update DVD from Navteq. Not likely to work, but Ill post back and let you know either way.

WOW...that really sucks. I'm assuming that you've looked online for NISSAN 307Z Euro/US map compatibility...

Please do let me know how that disc works, I know I definitely don't want to go through the same hassle you've been through

Out of interest, is yours the DVD or hard drive Sat Nav? I'm not sure if they ever shipped the DVD variant in the US. The early UK cars (with EU maps) are DVD so it could be quite easy to check those...

I've been doing a lot of research on how to do this as I am from Manila, Philippines and I imported my Z from the US so it comes with the US map. I'm desperately trying in vain to update the map specific to me to no avail.

From what I gathered, you can order update DVD's for Europe from NAVTEQ Maps and Traffic. They will sell you the update DVD specific for 370Z's. Navteq is the company that created the GIS map for the 370Z.

Unfortunately they do not have an update for me.

Yea, it’s been a bust at every corner. The most frustrating part is the ignorance on the part of the dealerships and Nissan in general. They sell these nav systems (at a high premium mind you) and have no clue as to how to support them. This from folks charging 100 Euros an hour for labor. For those premiums they damn well should know what they’re doing - or at least they should know who to ask!

Anyhow the Euro DVD did not work. Luckily Navteq agreed to take it back otherwise I’d be out the $300.

Bottom line is that If you have a Hard Drive based system (sold in the US) your boned. The only options you have with this system are US maps - there are currently no Euro (or any other region's) maps available for this system. Even if there was a Euro update for the HDD systems, European dealers wouldn’t be able to install them because of the computer interface – plus they're clueless anyhow. They can change your oil, but don’t ask them anything about the technology components.

The only hope at this point between me sticking one of those God-awful Garmin units on my dash is something along these lines YouTube - nissan infiniti NAVIGATION GPS UPGRADE KIT 2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 ICONTV .wmv

Hope this helps you guys out. As for me, this will sadly be my last Nissan. They're great cars, but I just can’t over look the pitiful customer service that I have received on every front from Nissan.

In Europe the system is also HDD based (2010).
The maps are the same as Renault - Carminate v30 system.
I've downloaded them from the internet.

Indeed, the dealers are stupid
I recommend an Infiniti service, as the HDD system is borrowed from Infiniti.

Mostly they are HDD based. The '09 UK cars have the old DVD based (not touchscreen) systems installed.

Good advice on the Infiniti service

Hello I find way how to put EUROPE maps 2010-2011 to USA Navi unit . It is work with NISSAN INFINITI Navi units Connect premium XANAVI from 2010 + . I tested it on mine EX35 2010 and M56 2011 .It should work on 2010+ 370z , Murano ..... .You need full reprogram HDD and internal unit memory . It not easy ,as HDD is locked . I spend more than half of year for investigation and lot of money for equpment !!!

Thanks for posting Legertas. I'm sure there are a lot of people that would like to know how you did this. Would you mind posting a step-by-step or at least a few details about what's involved?

Thanks for that. My local dealer had to replace the Nav unit in a Premium Connect 370Z a few weeks ago and when it arrived it was branded with Infiniti. They needed to reprogram the HD to make it work and say 'Nissan' again. I think they did it all with Consult 3.

. as I said it is not easy and - I clonned Navi unit-HDD , inside memory and lot of microchips . If you need a similar system, I can do that , just send me Unit for 1 day . Of course it will cost .
