Idle Issue (P0300), and weird noise.

I had the code P0300 about two weeks ago, random engine misfire, and had it reset. The SES light just came back on again and will get the code read again to see if anything new shows up...
The idle speed is now at about 1100-1200 instead of the normal 750ish.

I dont even need to apply gas to engage 1st gear smoothly...

Also, another issue, which I believe to be irrelevant to the first... is that whenever I step on the clutch to engage 1st or 2nd gear, most of the times not always, there is a loud noticeable shatter/clunking noise that seems to come from under the car.
The clutch seems fine, but its when I step on the clutch for 1st and 2nd that it does this... I am completely oblivious to the mechanics of this area, but it sounds as if maybe the clutch and fly wheel are trying to connect but does it very roughly and sloppy type of noise. And I mean it gets loud sometimes... makes me feel like im driving a beater when it happens.

Sorry for the long post, anyone have any experience with either of these problems?

The BlueMax 01-18-2015 01:47 AM

Same Issue

Yeah I had my Service Engine Light come on Wednesday afternoon at 27,958 miles, I was experiencing the same high idle but not the clutch/flywheel noise you described. By Thursday evening coming home the light went off and everything was back to normal. I posted this under “Service Engine Light” I probably have the same code in my memory as you pulled but I was thinking maybe some light dirt on the MAS sensor or a loose tube clamp on one of the K&N typhoon intake filters. I will summit any progress by next week.

maizenblue 01-18-2015 11:13 AM

the clutch noise you described is normal.
i had the p0300 light come on and then a few weeks later the fuel pump gave out. theres tons of things that can cause the light though. anything that can affect the engine as a whole and not any specific cylinder.

Maybe, one thing I think I have noticed though is that when it happened both times, I think I may have released the clutch to quickly as I started the car...? Maybe its just me.

Try cleaning your MAF sensors w/ CRC MAF cleaner.

Bad Boy 01-18-2015 02:40 PM

I just had the code reset again and the RPMs are back to normal. Im not gonna bother taking it to the mechanics because they will charge me diagnostics and then start guessing what it "might" be... I think its just best to wait for something to actually fail?

maizenblue 01-18-2015 02:41 PM

The rpms being at 1k on idle is due to the cel itself being on. Not from any issues itself. I had the same mindset as you and the car ended up leaving me stranded

Bad Boy 01-18-2015 02:59 PM

So next time code comes on, take it to dealer?

maizenblue 01-18-2015 03:11 PM

Well if the car breaks down, your going to pay the diagnostic fee + the tow charge plus the hassle of not having a car. Much less of a headache to figure out what the problem is and then take it from there

The BlueMax 01-22-2015 08:26 PM

Hey Bad Boy I cleared out the P0300 code and tighten up the intake tubes everything is back to normal, I think I might of had a small random air intake leak combined with some mid - plus gas.

BangZ 01-22-2015 08:43 PM

same enginve light problem

i have the same code showing up, it's really annoying how nissan set up the codes cause appearently the p0300 code can mean anything, had it to a performence shop and the Dealer and the dealer just kept trying to fix everything that wasn't wrong with it...if you find out why your code came on please share!

Hey I have this code popping up too. I've only had the car for about a month and a half now and the codes been up since i got it. At two different random times the code just cleared and later came back. I have cleaned my MAF's when the special cleaner and during my period of having this car i installed aftermarket cold air intakes. The code is still there and will not disappear. Next i am changing my spark plugs along with my O rings. I;ll let you know if that clears it. The biggest thing ive read is its usually a vacuum leak but i dont even know where to start looking if i have one.

Zrider79 03-01-2015 12:55 AM

Same boat

Bad Boy 03-01-2015 10:19 AM

I recently bought my own OBD II reader, and I keep only getting that code, but only once a month or something... So I just reset it and keep driving normally.

Boostlife 04-09-2015 06:57 PM

I have this code and I'm hoping it's the plugs

DOOMMONKEY777 04-09-2015 07:50 PM

Its the code of DEATH, meaning in 300days ur car will explode.lol

Check for vacuum leaks.

I changed my plugs thinking it would solve it, but it came back today after I installed catch cans. I would check for leaks and clean MAF because it's cheapest.

Zrider79 04-11-2015 06:43 PM

Bump

Venom13132 04-13-2015 07:56 AM

So I am in this boat as well. I have reset the code and it came back after like 20min of driving. I just changed my oil (irrelevent) and changed my spark plugs. I started the car and the light is still on and it was idling kind of rough. I am going to clean my Maf's and try to reset the light tonight or tomorrow and see if that helps. I have AEM intakes.

My old plugs didn't look too bad. The car only has 47k on it, 2010 Z Touring.

Merv 04-13-2015 09:00 AM

You could have a bad cat converter or 02 sensor. Not sure if they give off a different code or not.

mmares94 04-17-2015 03:33 PM

So had this code, I first cleaned MAF's, then changed spark plugs. The week after I changed spark plugs a code came back for my crank shafts and then it disappeared for a day. I haven't seen any codes pop up since.

Venom13132 04-22-2015 06:53 AM

So i got my p0300 to go away finaly. I replaced my spark plugs, pcv valves, and got silicone hoses for the crank breathers going to my AEM intake from Z1 to replace the stock ones that don't fit very well with an aftermarket intake, and got the silicone hoses for the pcv valves too. Cleared the code and it has not come back and the car is running wonderfully. https://resources.oncourse.iu.edu/ac...k/IMG_5133.JPG

Smashley 04-23-2015 10:36 PM

I get this code about once a month after clearing.. car drives normally after clearing

smoothtransit 04-24-2015 05:42 PM

Idk about constantly clearing a code just to keep driving... Usually if your car is trying to tell you something you should tend to it. You cant hit the "clear" button when the car is stranded on the road :ugh2:

I've had this issue for over a year now. I keep searching the forums if there's a solution. I got the problem after a issue with a timing sprocket failed. Dealer fixed that but couldn't find what the idle issue was from. Changed all the parts they asked coil pack, spark plug, timing sensors. Nothing fixed it. The car has been driving fine, I can reset the code and it will idle fine for a few minutes then the code will come back and idle high again.
