I switched to Redline MT-85 and have had it in there for probably 20,000 miles and it hasn't degraded over time at all. I noticed it helped a little but its no miracle worker. I'm approaching 60k miles so I'll be re-using Redline MT-85. I believe in it. No tracking or autox for me just spirited DD and hard pulls. It's noisey, its clunky, and its normal.

If ur grinding gears that baad in 1st, u might have bad synchronos.
I highly suggest redline synthetic fluid, and weightened shift knob, dont buy the short shifter yet, its bad in 1st.

I was grinding with my old transmission. Nissan replaced under warranty for me. It might've been bad synchros, I'm not really sure. -Raj

The added momentum helps get the car in gear. Trust me, it made a bigger difference then I thought it would.

But it seems hard to find one that looks similar to the stock shift knob (who's shape is perfect for me), The pokeballs and skulls and pistons seem a little juvenile to me and rob the Z of some sexiness.

I have the weighted shift knob, yes it does help, there are allot of them on the market here in USA and they r cheap just make sure it isn't titanium.
If u want one that looks like stock am afraid ur sol, but the weightened usually looks like a mushroom.

I use Amsoil GL4 75w90 fluid. It works well. Before this I would use Mobil 1 Synthetic 75w90. The notchy shifting you feel is due to the shifter linkage and bushings. It's normal. You just need some practice.

You're not alone. I had the same issue, changed oil to redline MT-85 and it still did the same thing. Turns out the problem was me. I got used to the transmission and now it shifts like butter.
