Should I get a oil change?

Getting ready for a long road trip...Fort Worth to Atlanta then back to Texas ending in El Paso towards the end of the month.

M Z is a 2015 with about 600 miles on it. Fluids all look good. Think it would be advised to get them changed before or after?

Get one in Atlanta if anything

Do you have to? Not really. Personally, I always change the oil on a new car after the break in period is over. Do I have to? Probably not. Is it ever a bad thing to change the oil? Nope.

If I were in your shoes, I'd change it as soon as I got back home. Also, check the oil from time to time. New engines occasionally burn some oil when they're breaking in.

Armpit? Why is that? Just for my cultural curiosity.
Do people stinks over there?

600 miles is a little early for the first change. I like DE5.0's change-in-ATL idea (and keeping a close eye on level). That will give you about 1500 miles, which is a good time for the first oil change. But it won't hurt if you wait until you get home - with modern engines and lubes, break-in is not the big deal it used to be.

good advice... just change it around 1500 - 2000 miles. I would probably use dino oil til about 5k in case you want to switch to synthetics. You should vary the speed during your long trip. It break-in better that way.

Been there before when I was in the Marines...El Paso to many sucks. Its split in half...half in Mexico half in the US. Its all desert.

I liked it there...love the desert actually.

I lived there... and its a crap hole... lol. You could literally piss over the fence into Juarez.

And if you don't speak spanish, you'll need to learn if you spend an extended amount of time there.

MJB: Did you have the NISMO when you lived there?

I would hate to have it there if it is windy. All that sand would find places to get into that your car may not like......

Lived in Yuma AZ..solid desert, and 29 Palms in California..sand is just something you have to deal with. Similar to living in NC or GA during spring. So much pollen everything has a cake of yellow/green. That stuff literally gets into everything including your house.

For myself no choice..job requires it.

roplusbee 01-11-2015 08:45 PM

Understood. I was in Augusta, GA in the Summer/Fall back in 2010, so I avoided the yellow blanket days.

I agree with Andrew and the guys^. Atl is a good time to change it. Just schedule it with the dealer before hand though. I got mine changed at 1,300 miles.

Yep, I bought the Nismo while I lived there. I also had my 350z while I was there too. The wind and sand storms was definitely a problem. Luckily I had a garage.
