Good OBD-II for Dash Command
Hey guys, I have been searching the forums, but I haven't come across a clear thread really for this. I am looking for a good OBD-II that I can use with my iPhone currently until I install my in dash iPad mini. I am not really sure what the difference is between bluetooth or wifi here, but if you guys have input please let me know. Also if you guys are using something different/better all the info helps. Thanks!

Bluetooth is all you need, you do not need the the extras wifi has to offer. I use the OBDLink MX Bluetooth. It works good for me but is pricier than the average reader. |

Bluetooth ftw. Its much faster. I have the elm with a nexus 7 and torque pro. I dont think there is a faster combo since mine seems instantaneous.

Do you have to open the app every time you start the car? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
ok guys, i was about to order the bluetooth plx kiwi 2, but it says it is only for android. Any feedback on that? the wifi version is showing that it is for iPhones, but the torque app won't be compatible, only dash command and rev.

just ordered the elm 327 and downloaded dash command and torque to try this out. Lets see how this goes! :)

From what I know Bluetooth is not supported on iOS. At least not for these obd2 readers. Also anyone know of a Bluetooth obd2 reader that I could run on my android that can also read abs/tpms? I'd like to be able read all the codes my car could throw at me through my phone.

If you get a obd reader like the elm 327 or Plx kiwi then you can do that. Buy one of those and you can pick up check engine codes and are able to clear them. I am not sure if it's the app or the reader. Probably both in combination. What are the problems that you're having? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
So I got my obd2 elm 327 in but it will not turn off. I left it plugged in for 20 min and it was still on when I got back. Any ideas?

The experience I've had with my reader is they will remain on as long as it is plugged in. I don't think there is much power draw. I've left it in overnight multiple times and never had any battery issues.

this is an old thread but I had some questions and didn't want to waste space with a new thread. I'm searching for a good obd2 scanner to track stats on my z. I want to be able to data log, track specs, and check codes, etc. I was about to pull the trigger on the new one Z1 is offering (link below) but wanted to ask before I made a bad purchase. what will be the best one for the same price?

bump! looking to purchase today after some insight :eekdance:

I ordered the Kiwi 3 myself and will give it a try soon. Early impressions on the Harry's LapTimer forums are good. So far, I've been using Automatic, which works fine, but occasionally has trouble authenticating when there is no signal available (as is the case for some tracks). If the Kiwi 3 solves that problem and performs identically otherwise, I'll be happy.

i got the Scan Tool OBDLINK LX. This model turns itself off after a few minutes to prevent battery drain. Not sure if the Kiwi 3 has this feature.

well I guess I'm about to order the kiwi3 and pair it with the torque pro app and ill also test with dash command then ill update.

Just did a search for "Bluedriver" and found a couple of old threads including this one.
I purchased a Bluedriver OBDII scanner on a recommendation from someone on another 370Z Forum. Plugged it in today and it works very well with the 370Z. |
OBDLink MX Bluetooth is the fastest and best way to go. However, the last I heard, it does not work with iOS due to their proprietary Bluetooth stack. I've used extensively with Android (Nexus 7) and have been completely satisfied with it.
