Default CSC and dealership..need some advice.

Basically I woke up one morning and my clutch just sunk to the ground.. I had to get to work that day so i just drove it to work. On my way back it pretty much died completely, luckily I got home by then.

I feel like I'm pretty sure that its my CSC.. i looked under the hood and the fluid was completely gone, the clutch pedal is gone, and my gears won't go in.

so my problem and question is with the dealership, the CSC is covered under my warranty but they said it might be my clutch pressure plate and thats not covered, I'm worried that there just trying to scare me because they quoted me a crazy price for the clutch. is it possible that its the clutch or the pressure plate? it doesn't feel like its my clutch, I'm sure its wearing down I'm at 44k original clutch but i really feel like there just trying to get out of doing a free job.

id really appreciate any advice possible...i don't want to get screwed by the dealership

Of course they are going to tell you that you'll need a new pressure plate and disk... they aren't called "stealerships" for nothing. Its definitely the CSC. If the master cylinder were to fail, you would see the fluid leak on the carpet by the pedals.

44k doesn't seem like a lot of miles for a clutch to start dying out. I got 100k out of the factory clutch in my last car before it started to go out. I'd have them fix the CSC and see if that does the trick.

Pressure plate wouldn't cause the fluid to drain out. The seals in your CSC let go.

It's the CSC bro!!!

Tell them you want to see the clutch, if it got fluid on it because the CSC went out (which it did) they owe you a new clutch too

It's the CSC, if it's not and you have the tranny out, now is the time to up grade it all, aftermarket parts are cheaper then OE, other then the CSC, but you'll never need to change it again.

I was told by the dealer (on my last short-block change... The 3rd.) that I needed a new clutch and pressure plate as well. My car only had 24k miles on it. I laughed at them, and told them to re-install the old one, I'll deal with it when it finally goes. (which will probably be 100k miles from now.)

Just wanted to update everyone, it was in-fact the CSC and it was fully covered by the extended warranty I had purchased when I first bought my Z.. And yet again they tried screwing me by telling me my transmission oil was dirty, my diff oil was dirty, my intake filters were also "dirty" when I just changed my filters and tranny oil. I didn't even take the car, I gave it back to them. My clutch felt off, and the engagement point was just as bad as when the CSC went out. I couldn't even drive it without stalling because of how low the engagement point was. Not sure if the clutch is adjustable? or if they just did some hack job but Im not taking that dam thing till its fixed properly. I think dealerships would have much more business if they weren't such a ripoff...

anyhow, thanks for all the responses

Not sure why the fluid in the trans & diff have anything to do with the failure of the csc? Did they complain about the coolant?

Now that the leak is gone. Your clutch feel would be different and engagement point would be also because it is actually disengaging the clutch with a good csc.

Notice you are in LA also. Which dealership did you take it to?

Didnt read thread if this involves trying to get your csc replaced at a stealership, pray, call every dealer you can, when **** hits the fan have nna in your speed dial, maybe try to lube a service writers pockets, if all else fails make a youtube video along the lines of "your nissan will try to kill you" get it viral and hope they try for damage correction. Your really screwed and will probably end up paying out the *** and i would either go aftermarket or oem and sell it.

lol so the reason the clutch felt as bad as it did the first time, was because the CSC literally broke again right after they installed it.
