350z V8 6.0L LS2
So I have an RX-7 that I had HinsonSuperCars put a LS2 V8 6.0L out of a 2006 Corvette. They are 4 hours North of me in Birmingham. Before you flame me for ruining a perfect car, I'll have you know when I imported the JDM RX-7 from Japan, I was not allowed to bring the trans or engine - so it didn't have a rotary when I got it..... So I put in a V8. ANYWAYS.
I was on Hinson's website, and noticed they recently finished install on a V8 LS2 6.0L 350z. It made me laugh. Think about how what would sound. Got me thinking about the 370z. Maybe putting a 6.2L LS3 in it. My wife's pontiac has an LS3, how hilarious would a 370z sound with that engine? Don't worry I'm not going to do it, but it's a crazy idea that is actually doable. I'd buy a base model before I would do it though, not gonna rip the guts out of a NISMO. http://www.hinsonsupercars.com/image...medium/243.jpg http://www.hinsonsupercars.com/image...medium/197.jpg http://www.hinsonsupercars.com/image...N/icon/511.jpg |
It's not a bad idea.. The LS series engines were indeed touched by the hand of God, afterall.

LS RX-7s are some of the coolest cars around. The FD was an amazing car with a sorry excuse for an engine and turbo-system, so ditching that for an LS-block makes perfect sense. What you end up with is a badass street-cars combining one of the best sports-car chassis of all time with a light, efficient, and powerful V8. There was a very, very clean FD for sale around here not too long ago with an LS7, and the car overall was amazing inside and out. An LSx is great for an old 350Z that you can find for real cheap and end up with a really nice project. However, I don't think the hassle of swapping anything into a 370Z would be worth it at this point. As cool as a 500+ RWHP NA V8 370Z would be, you can just save yourself the hassle, headache, money, and significant downtime and just buy a Z06. |

LS3 motor in 370z.......... DROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

very good idea I love transplants but I'd hold off on the 370z I wouldn't commit to such a conversion yet. My 70 V8 240 will be awakening soon after 5 years of sleeping.

with the new Gtm Turbo kit I would hold out for an LS7 but THAT would be nuckin futs Doesn't weigh much more than our motor/trans and yet it's a 427 with aftermarket support to well over 1000hp, and an unnecessarily large amount of torque:tup: If you put that in a NISMO I'd flame you for it then steal it:driving:

I liked the idea of an LS2 in my rx-7 because sure I could turbo up a 13b and make it 400hp, but and ls2 is stock 400hp and tq, I could just leave it stock and enjoy 200,000 miles of 400hp :) |
my cousin just got a 2006 vette (manual) i will let you know how much he beats me buy. My 370 is a 7 AT that runs 12.80 at the track, It should be close but his car should be faster,

How much does one of these engines weigh vs the Nissan V6?

Just buy a vette.... dont consecrate a good car.....
|
It's not so odd, several of the 350's in the Formula D series are using the V8 front the Nissan Titan trucks....
I saw 2 at least. One N/A and one supercharged. |
Did you have to strengthen the chassis due to the massive torque increase?
