Which coolant cap goes to which opening?

Does the typical thermostatic spring loaded cap go on the metal hard pipe or the plastic overflow bottle? The other cap is just a solid plain cap.

i am not at my car to look but generally the spring loaded cap does not go on an overflow bottle.

It goes on the metal neck

stupid? yes, bleeds better? also yes

also this is correct the pressure cap must go on the overflow and the blank goes on the coolant neck or else it will piss coolant everywhere and blow your headgaskets when it gets hot.

Do you think somebody could really mess up the previous coolant system? there is no f'ing way the little black plastic cap would fit on the coolant neck. no one is that dumb. cept maybe the guy that put oil in his radiator

You're right, sorry I looked at the join date.

Either way, 2012 has the same design of the pressurized tank, and if the OP is asking, he has a reason. If he had a 2009 and was asking... He'd be brain dead, LOL

I had to ask because I was looking at my 2011 thinking there's no way someone could get those caps mixed up. But I guess if someone could mix it up with the engine oil neck... :wtf2:
