Twin air ducts

If those ducts are anything similar to the ones everyone had on their 350s, they do nothing worth while for IATs or HP gains and are essentially a cosmetic mod.

Thinking those Varis ducts may be the way to go. Just wish they were a little more cosmetic.

Edit: Also echoing what someone said earlier, I'd love to see the hardware behind the ducts. If they are just bumper holes I'm not going to be super stoked.

For reference, here's what they are supposed to look like:

Yeah, I'm really curious to see if they actually mate up to the OEM inner bumper duct opening. The OEM boxes sort of slide and snap down securely to that opening for air tight seal, complete with some insulation foam.

If they don't seal to that duct opening -- and they very well may not -- it's probably not really worth it, and may even create pressure drops.

It would also be interesting to see a comparison of IAT's with and without the ducts, whether or not they mate perfectly to the inner ducting.

I'd prob agree but you'd have to do one test to prove you right or wrong. These aren't going to show up on a dyno but could in the real world. A dyno can't generate the air speed but a rolling road can. You'd have to do a 50-100 and time it. Install these and do it again. I bet you do see a drop in time which would equal a HP increase from the ram air effect.

They make 2 of these as seen in the pics with the white car and the one members grey car. I personally like ones on the members grey car which are the rectangle ones origanally made for a 350z. These are just openings that stick back about 4 inches. How you place them, seal them, route them etc is all up to you. It's no difference than a brake duct cooling insert like shown on the member black car. You either hook up hose and route or don't.

You also don't cut the styrofoam. These mount higher where the stillen filters sit. The bumper beam is below.

Future plans LTH's, exhaust, upRev, Maybe jun cams once someone taps into that unchartered territory, rods pistons, and upgrade oil pump etc I want to rev 8,500-9000 rpms. Long term really long term plans

Figure if people are getting 18whp with just stillen g3's with the bumper off, these air ducts have to duplicate that flow of air somewhat.

I just did these on Friday night, Took CF Saleen brake ducts and mount to the bumper ducts.

it's not a mod to gain power, but rather a mod to gain driveability and consistency - or at least prolong the pleasure.
the less time it takes for your IAT to drop, the sooner your timing advances again.
i made a ghetto pair of air scoops for my Stillen G3 intakes. they are so big you can barely see the radiator thru the front grille. hard to tell if there is any gain from ram air but IATs stay pretty steady and cool fairly quickly from a standstill. throttle response remains fairly consistent even in heavy traffic. so it's a win on that front.

only problem is that coolant temps are slightly higher due to reduced airflow. driven thru heavy rain and i havent had any issues. filters were a bit soggy but no ill effects could be noticed

I wouldn't say there's no performance gain yet. These run the same path as the Stillen Gen 3's. I have a dyno the 25th to see if these made anything.

Well just got done a test drive, I don't if it's just me or the weather, but the car seem to pull a bit harder and throttle response is a little better. As far as the placement they line up directly in-front of the stock air ducts.

These twin air ducts are a excellent idea as your engine will benefit from breathing in more air flow. Only thing you will have to clean or replace your air filters more often and clean up your engine bay more often as well but this twin air duct mod is worth it I believe.
