Default is there a fix to fuel starvation?

I was reading a few posts in the past about this fuel starvation and thinking 'these guys must be running so low on fuel to save weight'.

apparently it is due to the shape of fuel tank and I cant believe nissan is doing nothing to fix this issue.

is there any fix to this? is there any baffle plate or something that can be easily added? searching doenst seem to get me a clear answer other than just saying 'add more fuel and forget'

Phunk is a forum sponsor and has a product that is probably your best solution. You want the Road Race Fuel Pump in this link CJM 370z Fuel System Products: A Brief Overview.

Your only easy option is to keep the tank full. Yes, it is a terrible design by Nissan

Mine will do it with 3/4 tank of gas on Sebring turn 17 and CJM is really the only proven option. I just ordered mine, I'm sick of filling up after every session.

You can also just throw these puppies into the gas tank. It should buy you a few more laps

Gas Tank Foam- Anti Slosh Foam- Fuel Tank Foam
just remember when trying to do something like this that there are two fuel level sender arms in the tank that will need to move and cannot be obstructed by foam.

The problem is the saddle shape, the center is the high point. I assume they did this to lower the center of gravity and didn't push the car hard enough to find the problem. Maybe the idiot that designed the cooling system also designed the gas tank.

Its actually a pretty typical over-all fuel tank shape found in many cars. The lack of baffles combined with the non-existent displacement of the fuel pump module surge canister, and the lethargic recovery of fuel via a return venturi is why the 370z suffers starvation worse than other vehicles.

I have posted several times recommending people to attempt putting some fuel cell foam in the center of the tank. Not sure why nobody wants to try it! It wont work as well as my road race pump, but it may or may not offer considerable improvement.

I completely agree and think it's pretty sad in both cases - I burst out laughing when I read this. Maybe he did the 6MT syncro too...

(Head in Hands)...... This reminds me of Dodge. You have to fix the stupid stuff they did to be able to really enjoy the vehicle. Nissan has not been this bad in the past. I personally hate the no return fuel systems.
