370z 7AT problems with GReddy TwinTurbo tune - what to do?
Hi guys,
I've recently fitted a GReddy Twin Turbo kit on my Nissan 370z RHD 7AT. After running into to so many problems with the car being a RHD and the steering rack interfering with the turbos, managed to overcome all problems and took the car for tuning at a respectable tuner here in UK. Mods fitted on the car: - Stillen Gearbook Oil cooler - GReddy Twin Turbo kit - GReddy ProFec Electronic Boost Controller - Walbro 485 Fuel Pump - Interior Dynamic 1000cc injectors - CJM Stage 1 Fuel Return System - CJM custom red anodised Fuel Rails The tuner tried to tune it UpRev, but he's saying the gearbox can't handle so much torque the TT kit is making, therefore it just blows through the clutches. Apparently the clutches are slipping. Now, to sort this out I would normally have these options: 1. Try and get the valve body upgraded by GTM (wonder if there is any slight chance Sam could do this without wasting my time and money, we all know GTM...) 2. Convert to a 6MT gearbox, get uprated clutch etc 3. Remove the kit from the car, sell all parts and the car and then buy a GTR and be done with it, this being the last resort. What do you guys have experienced with 7AT cars and TT kits in US? Also, has anyone here managed to convert to 6MT properly and everything works including SynchroRev? Any other bit of advice is more than welcome, thanks a lot for your time. P.S. Before you send me here: Forced Induction & 7AT 370z Info I've already read the whole topic and relate more information to the tuner Last edited by octet; 09-03-2014 at 10:38 AM. |

Just spoke to Dave @ Level Ten here: Level 10 Nissan PTS Bulletproof Torque Converter RE5R05A,RL4F03A,RE4F04A,RE4F04B,RE4R01A,RE4R03A,RE 5F22A
They sound like really nice guys, been offered the following: - valve body upgrade - torque convertor - internals - master overhaul kit 5 days turn around time The gearbox will then withstand 700hp and big torque figures, awaiting confirmation on this. Also comes with 12 months warranty or 12.000 miles. $3700 roughly. What do you guys think? Good alternative? |

then yes that level10 set-up for $3700 sounds like a good deal to be honest. if that was around or if i'd known about it a while back i would have boost. having a 7AT and GTMs high priced AT upgrade turned me off from boost.

Wow more n more ppl are gonna go back to bulletproof manual tranny eh?
It should bolt right up and all the electrical is already there just buy an aftermarket cmc, csc, clutch, flywheel, aftermarket clutch pedal and all the clutch fluid pipes. Or am i wrong?

Well basically lately ive been reading ppl having limitations on the track and boosted Z's with the 7A tranny. Also replacement auto tranny cost was like 8k(someone on the forum mentioned) so if lets say a person would consider installing a manual tranny on a car originally designed for ether, but assembled with an auto tranny, is going manual the cost of parts all together = new auto tranny. And will it bolt right up?
Also ^that vs upgrading the auto tranny, parts n stuff. Also vs if u just buy the OS Giken 88 manual tranny for 8k
