Gauges / Uprev / Widebands / Engine Monitoring?
 

Hey guys,

Long story short I'm installing twin turbos on my car and I'm trying to decide what type of setup to run to monitor everything. My goal is to install a screen in the center cubby to display as many readings as possible before installing gauges in the 3 dash pods. Ideally, I want to be able to have every reading displayed on the screen. I have read through many threads but still have unanswered questions. My car does not have the factory navigation screen so I will be installing my own. What I'm thinking will end up happening is I'll have to install a boost gauge and two independent aftermarket widebands in the 3 dash pods. Then find a system to display other parameters on the screen.

Main values I'd like to monitor:
1. Boost
2. Dual AFR (per bank)
3. Oil Temp
4. Oil Prs.
5. Fuel Prs.
6. EGT

1. The car is being tuned with UpRev. I have read that UpRev can be set up as a graphical user interface to be used for engine monitoring. What is needed to do this? What values can UpRev measure and display? Any downsides?

2. It is my understanding that the 370z already comes stock with two widebands. I have also read that the reading from the stock widebands are not as accurate as some aftermarket standalone widebands. Would you recommend running two aftermarket widebands or just monitor the OEM ones? Can UpRev monitor/display both AFRs simultaneously?

3. I have also read quite a bit on the HKS Camp2 system which is now discontinued. I have not been able to find a definitive answer if the Camp2 has the ability to display the OEM widebands or if it would be possible to add two widebands to it.

uprev cipher on a windows tablet and the downsides are that you won't be able to log even half the stuff in your list, and the refresh and startup time for the program and gauges isn't that good, not bad but not good.

the 370 does come with factory widebands they are a different calibration and range so the only way to read them is obd2, and they aren't that accurate

camp2 was discontinued for a reason it is stupid expensive for what it does, look into getting a plx gauge that can have axillary sensors hooked up, or if Mr. Gale gets his screen up and running.

My screen, sensors, OS, etc, is up and running. I just haven't had enough interest for me to move forward with it.

Edit- It can display your list 1-6 on the screen all at the same time too.

Let me revise that to if Mr. Gale can get his screen up and selling lol

I'd be interested pending time and cost. I'm needing to order something asap. Looking into Racepak now.

1. Do not use uprev for displaying, great tool for tuning or diagnostic but not for daily display.
2. Stock bands are not worth viewing, aftermarket is more accurate and probably faster.
3. Camp2 cannot tap into this, plus side for the camp2 is it can monitor a lot downside is a lot of what it can do is via extra sensors. Especially since this car is not boosted from factory you need a boost line, pressure line, etc.

You can get the factor navigation dash piece (Nissan - 68520), it usually runs 200-400 I believe and then just attach any screen to it. Friend in Houston uses a PC for his setup to tap into the car and display, and it uses dashcommand software on a windows OS.

After more research and narrowing things down, this is the setup I'm planning on going with:

3 Dash Pods: (AEM Digital Boost Gauge, 2x AEM Digital AFR widebands)
Center Cubby: DEFI Advance ZD Screen, DEFI ACU, sensors for Oil temperature, Oil Pressure, EGT, Fuel Pressure, and Water Temperature.

i would do a greddy informeter touch before the camp2 or defi.

That camp 2 set up is amazing. That's the first time I've seen that. Very nice!

I'm sure you can come up with something cheaper. The DEFI stuff you were looking at is quality stuff.

Temporary solution, should have no problem fitting 4 gauges w some trimming

I use AeroForce Interceptor, stock widebands. I checked the gauge against my tuners wideband and its off by a couple of tenths. You can run two guages, daisy chained to cover everything you want to monitor.

I looked into the Informeter. I love the display and graphical user interface, but the system is limited to what additional sensors can be added. The only way I could see this meeting my criteria would be to run an EGT and 2x AFR gauges in the dash pods, then run boost, oil pressure, and oil temperature of the Informeter. That would leave out fuel pressure.

Martin82, I actually like that. I didn't even bother looking into adding actual gauges to the cubby because I didn't think I would be able to get six of them to fit.

If you trim the back, top and sides it would be possible to get 6 tightly installed gauges. I just couldn't find my dremel after my move so all that was cut w a knife/blade down to the holes for the gauges lol!!
