Another oil filter for Stillen oil cooler sandwich plate thread

Hello all,

I know there are lots of threads that discussed about compatible oil filter for
Stillen oil cooler sandwich plate.

So far, I found two oil filters that works.

K&N oil filter HP-1008
Purolator Pureone PL10193
Mobil 1 M1-105

I know there is Fram filter too but I don't want to use that one.
It is hard for me to buy any of three filter above at local part store.
I saw one of post saying someone is using Mobil 1 M1-110 but not sure
if it's for Stillen sandwich palte.

Is anyone using Mobil M1-110 with Stillen sandwich plate?
Or does anyone use other oil filter besides oil filter that I mentioned?

Please reply if you do!

Thank you!!

I use:
Bosch D3312

Almost every, if not every WalMart carries it. $13 though...

EDIT: the cheaper 3312's from Bosch don't fit. The D3312 has a large enough o-ring area to seal.

Thanks for letting me know! Anyone else? I would like to list all compatible oil filters for Stillen oil cooler

SO if the oe filter is roughly $8 cheaper than the stillen filter, it would take around 15 oil changes to pay off throwing out the stillen plate and buying a mocal one and new fittings. less if you can sell your stillen plate to some other sucker.

Wut??) Mobil 1 M1-105

Im also interested about the results of m1-110 though. I've looked all over also the past 2 weeks and couldnt find m1105 in stores so I actually just ordered a few off this website:

M1-105 Mobil1 Oil Filter (PH3950, 51381, TG3950, M1105)

$7.79 each isnt too bad, standard 5$ shipping. Also as you can see in the hyperlink, it lists all the cross reference filters.

I just got the cooler installed last week end and am currently using the Fram filter.

Amazing! Who knew that I was searching for the Bosch equivalent for the Stillen plate? It must be providence.

It was a fluke, kinda.

I went to walmart with my sandwich plate and tested a bunch of the high dollar Frams... Then I saw that Bosch wrote the thread size ON the filter itself, 20mm. Then I saw the D3312 was big enough to fit/seal the plate.

I had considered doing that myself. Thanks for saving me the work!

FYI. The Bosch D3312 is too long to be installed on a 2012+ with the OEM oil cooler.

i use an xg3950

Dirty, I don't have that issue... Take the OEM cooler off

aszyd 08-22-2014 12:34 PM

I did look into that option, however, to successfully remove it, I would have needed the filter adapter from a '09 - '11. The one on cars with the oil cooler is longer and the filter would not have mated to the pan.

Such is life. I also broke the upper pan at the oil pressure sensor, so my car is out of commission until the new pan arrives.

Picked up this one from my local Advanced Auto. Purolator Pureone PL10193. It was a tight fit, but it fit none the less. I compared it to the suggested Fram model and they looked the same. Funny thing is that the filters are larger than the plate, but thanks to the enlarged o-ring, it seals just fine. Before I purchased it, I was like, "no way in hell!"

Also, I'm happy to be back with a Pureone. Sucks that Walmart does not carry any of these filters. I pick up the Mobil 1 from there, so it would be convenient to also be able to buy the filter as well.

I did, and just now I re-read it. What did I miss? He wants to know what filter will fit with an oil cooler sandwich plate....right? no?

With a STILLEN sandwich plate. Not all sandwich plates are the same. I assume FIs is meant to use the stock filter. Stillen's is not designed to use the stock filter

I think that is a mistake on Stillen's part. There are a few negatives to requiring a different filter than stock. One definitely has to be willing to do their own oil changes with this kit, or be prepared for hassle and/or mistakes.

My bad if I came off sounding like an asshole.
I thought that was common forum knowledge that the Stillen plate uses a different filter

1slow370 09-03-2014 10:37 PM

but that was like 3 yrs i ago unless you were unlucky enough to buy one you probably forgot, I know I did cuz my cooler used to use oe filters.

Op I'm glad i have found this thread as Im not comfortable using the $3 fram oil filter as suggested by Stillen.

Will try the K&N and Mobil as suggested.
The last time I tried the K&N oil spilled all over as i did not get a good seal.
Could not remember which part number was it hopefully not the same as you suggested,

Sorry bro I could not remember but autozone made a search match for the Fram oil filter used by stillen then is the one came out in the computer K&N brand.
When I get the chance to go by autozone I'll get the part # but it did not give a good seal spilled about a quart of oil.

Yeah so I tried using the k&n hp 1008 and didn't seal right, oil leaking everywhere , just ended up buying the Bosch one for $11 , just an FYI for people wondering about the k&n ( plus the k&n filter is tiny ) my Miata had a bigger filter than that one haha
