For those of you having the same issue... if you have the diagnosis paperwork from anytime you might have had this fixed please contact:

Marash @ customer care ext 457354 and she will create a ticket to hopefully escalate to HQ. LETS GET THIS THING RECALLED!

FYI clutch is covered under drive train if you didn't know.

According to multiple dealers and several NNA representatives, the powertrain warranty does not cover the CSC or the CMC. Those items are typically only approved for warranty coverage for people who have all their service done at the dealer. I heard it called "good will" coverage on several occasions. Having only let the dealer touch it for a headliner warranty replacement, I did not fulfill their requirements for "good will" coverage.

I replaced my CSC with the Z1 CSCEK before it failed because I can't afford to get stranded when I drive out to West Texas where there is no cell service. Wish I could help the cause in getting this recalled. My suggestion is purchase one of the aftermarket solutions. OEM will just fail again.

The CMC and CSC should be covered. The CSC is powertrain since it also has the throw-out bearing on it. I would go to war over this just on princapal.

I don't disagree with you. There are a couple of people on here who have gotten it covered between 30K-60K miles. I also know at least a couple of them let the dealer do pretty much all their maintenance work and are prime for "good will" warranty coverage.

The Z is my DD, so I would prefer not to wait for it to fail and not to fight with the dealer and corporate to cover it because I don't spend enough money with Nissan to get "good will" treatment for gray-area warranty coverage. I'm a customer dammit, and they should want to treat me with good will regardless of how much they profit from me.

I also didn't really want to shell out $1K+ for parts and labor when it finally fails, so I did an upgrade on my own terms. I spent $400ish on parts and did the job in my garage with some help. On jack stands. I wouldn't do work like that again without a lift, but the idea is that I won't have to ever mess it again. I'll probably get 100K miles out of the stock clutch, so I've got a few years before major transmission labor should be necessary again.

which is why I usually let the dealership do all the scheduled maintenance while a car is in warranty. it might be a little more $$, but you never know when you will need someone on your side.

That being said, I service the cayenne at vw, because its half the price and I won't have it past the warranty anyway since its a lease.

That is an excellent point. Although it can be difficult for some to find a nearby dealer that is trustworthy. But even in hindsight, I would definitely be happier with the route I took (doing everything myself) vs letting the dealer do everything even if I knew they would 100% cover the CSC and such. I wasn't really a car guy before the Z, and I'm glad to have all the tools and knowledge that I have acquired since purchasing it

We have an Acura lease and the dealer won't even use the recommended oil weight when they do the oil change. I can do it myself with the 0W-20 full synthetic (instead of the 5W-20 blend the dealer uses) for less than their "deal", plus it takes up less of my time overall.

I tend to side with mike and go to "scheduled" maintenance. Its a couple hundred but I usually have them flush everything everytime just for GP... then I change the fluids out myself afterwards. lol. According to NISSAN the CSC is covered under drivetrain. If they ever tell me any different I will also battle to no end. I am going to get the upgrade just not at the moment. Too many other life issues and things I need and want in the way. I will do the install myself and probably upgrade the clutch at the same time so it will probably be a winter project while she is in hibernation. I think parts (clutch and slave and flywheel maybe diff while Im at it.) alone will cost me a pretty penny. But well worth it. I just wanted to put in an update on my specific situation and let you all know about the process in case you had any problems. I think registering on the owners.nissanusa.com helped a little as well. ;-)

My went out this past Sunday, I have 43k on my 2010, with a 5 year 75K extended warranty. Its currently being covered.

HOWEVER the servise tech. called me to tell me that myself or someone must have put something in my power fluid reservoir because it's brown now….?? I told him dude it's brown to the CSC failue.. I want them to flush the system since it has now contaminated to entire system. They said I have to pay for it, $129. I just got off the phone with Nissan customer service, and have escalated the issue that they need to cover the flush since the part that went bad cause the system to be contaminated.

However they said they would upgrade to the DOT4 GTR fluid which is $49 a bottle. Happy dance

How the hell was the dealer going to replace the CSC without doing a clutch fluid flush?

I assume you are not talking about the power steering fluid, which is a completely separate system and totally unrelated (you say "power fluid reservoir").
