Thank you all :) IS the Mishimoto MMOC-370Z-09 Oil Cooler Kit by really worth the extra 200$ over the Stillen one- STILLEN 400643 Gold Series Oil Cooler Kit - Performance - 09-11 370Z (Excl Nismo) / 08-13 G37 / An or has one used the Godspeed hell $195? Godspeed Universal 10 ROW OIL Cooler KIT + 2 X High Quality Stainless Braided Nelon Hose ? Last who is CORP? http://www.amazon.com/AN-10AN-UNIVER...KV3H6FJE0D2DZ2 |
Stop whatever you're doing and buy the Z1 Motorsports kit.
They offer 19, 25, 34 row coolers with the exact length of hose and all the parts required. :tiphat: |

I was gonna reply to this thread... But... Needs a computer for an essay reply |
I just installed a 34 row Z1motorsports kit in my car. Love it. Best mod so far. My temps were at around 220 when I was just cruising before the install. If I started really driving it, it would climb to 240ish. Now after install my temp stays at 180 and that really driving it hard in 90 degree humid New Jersey days. Install went great. Kit fit with no issues. Great guys over there. Excellent customer service.

We have a saying at my tuners shop, 'Friends don't let friends put Mishimoto parts on their cars!' |

Cant believe you put this thread up, there must be something in the air lol.
I was just about to make a post regarding oil cooling especially cooling when it comes to forced induction. Im currently running the Stillen Gold Series Race oil cooler, 25 rows with AN8 fittings. We are running the stock front bumper/fascia with Stillen front lip and Stillen canards. On track around 20oC ambient temps we are able to get the oil up to around 120oC in around 10 minutes which is useless. We are upgrading to the FrozenBoost charge cooler radiator so currently from the front to back:- FrozenBoost Type 101 26x7x3.5 Radiator Stillen Gold Series Race 25 Row Oil Cooler Mishimoto Aluminium Radiator So my conundrum is: Option 1:- Using the current thermostatic plate with AN8 fittings and up rate the cooler to a 34 row x 235mm from APS and leave in the current position and add 8" electric fan. Option 2:- Replace the thermostat with a Mocal sandwich plate with AN10 or AN12 fittings with APS 34 row x 235mm and leave in current position and add 8" electric fan. Option 3:- Replace the thermostat with a Mocal sandwich plate with AN10 or AN12 fittings with APS 34 row x 235mm and leave in current position and attempt to position cooler in the driver side (UK right hand side) bumper below the headlight and put two 76mm intakes Option 4:- Using the current oil cooler setup and move to driver side (UK right hand side) bumper below headlight and use oil cooler shroud with two 76mm intakes. Option 5:- Replace thermostat with Mocal sandwich plate with AN10 or AN12 fittings and place a Setrab 592mm x 14 row (122mm) SLM cooler place right across the base of the radiator, kind of where the Stillen one sits except a lot longer yet shorter in height. What do you guys think? I dont really want to try all those options or I will be buying multiple bumpers and multiple coolers lol |
Agreed with Andrew, An why not install a temp switch that comes on when the oil hits 180? I never tacked my car but would get on it here and there in summer here 90's -100 and humid and never ran into an oil temp issue with my SC. I'm assuming you have the rad fans coming on full at 185 . Its not the oil cooler but the cooler the motor and area cant hurt.
An there is, LOL will probably stay with Stillen tho too |
My car get's to 220 deg F just cruising down the interstate at 75MPH in South Ga. heat. Ever sweat at night at 12:00am... LOL
|
It's all about the position and the overall airflow though. It's no good if you can pump the cooler full of fresh air if the hot air coming out the back has no where to go.
Ideal scenario for me would be able to fit a 34 row cooler in where the washer bottle is with a custom made shroud, 8" electric fan on the back of it and vented wheel arch to pump the air out. That would be ideal. Got knows, need to take the bumper off again and measure up. |
I'm definitely in need of an oil cooler -- 45 min of highway driving in Sunday's 90-degree temps had the needle at 250 degrees; can't imagine what 20 min on a track would do! -- and the Z1 Motorsports site does a great job of explaining the difference between all of the available options except one: what's the difference between a Mocal core and a Setrab core (other than $45?).
Please keep in mind that I know nothing about mechanics. :D |

do you plan on getting Uprev? If so I would go with a smaller core since they can modify fan tables. I dont have an oil cooler but it cools down relatively fast. With that said, I am getting a 25 row oil cooler from Z1.

Cannot say enough good things about my Z1 oil cooler. Even when it is 115 degrees out, the oil stays nice and cool.
|
I'm using Stillen kit, 25row setrab core, the highest ive seen at the track yesterday was 110degC (230degF) with ambient temp of 10degC (50degF), that was after about 12min of hot laps

Just installed the Mishimoto kit.
From what I read, almost everyone hates the Mishimoto kit. I am sorry people feel that way. My temps have been stable. Today for instance drove 40 minutes in 101° heat at 70-80 mph. Oil temps 185° low temp, to 215° at a high temp. No leaks and fits like a glove. I opted for the thermostatic sandwich plate too. The kit is very well thought out. Use the setrab radiator mount and you get to keep the cross brace strut on the Nismo. But what does that matter. You must go see for yourself. Oil temp control is key in the 370Z. Without it, you will not be enjoying track days.

I'm trying to make it through this Summer with the stock cooler, but I'll be purchasing Fast Intentions 34 row by Spring 2015 at the latest.
|
I have gone ahead an upgraded our oil cooling:-
2 x Setrab 25 Row x 235mm with An10 fittings. Hopefully this will keep her cool. |

While we're talking oil coolers, are there any kits that use OEM oil filters?

Yeah.. we couldn't get the OEM Oil Filter to mate on the Stillen Adapter for instance and had to have all the filters shipped from the US. Will the Z1 adapter accept OEM filters?
|
Yes as well as gtm, nismo, mocal 20mm, I guess the cheap sandwhich plate stillen uses has a different thread.
|
Thanks for the info sir!

With my Mishimoto setup I am using the K&N filter. Fits right and has a 25mm hex fitting on the tip to make it easy on or off with a box wrench. Opinions on the K&N oil filter are welcome. So far they are doing the job.
