Oil cooler?
Hey guys, I recently purchased a sport touring 370z. Does the 2014 come with a factory oil cooler?
|
yes . how much it helps depends on where you live and driving style . though its not as good as having an aftermarket one installed
|
Track
If I track the car, should I swap it? also what temp is considered high?
|
Yes, you should definitely get a oil cooler if you track. I believe our Z will *limp* at or before 260~280F to prevent over heating, which can happen very quickly after just a few laps.

The factory cooler is more like a patch. It is Nissan's cheap fix and works for regular non-abusive use. You don't need an upgraded cooler if you're not tracking. Save your $ for other mods.

Cant speak for Tracking the Z but the factory oil cooler definitely does its job during normal driving. I don't think its as crappy as some people have said on this forum.
The oil temperature in my 2009 Z stayed near 220 during normal driving, my 2012 stays near 200. 09=didn't come with a factory oil cooler....2012=came with a factory oil cooler |
I just installed a 34 row Z1motorsports kit in my car. Love it. Best mod so far. My temps were at around 220 when I was just cruising before the install. If I started really driving it, it would climb to 240ish. Now after install my temp stays at 180 and that really driving it hard in 90 degree humid New Jersey days.

Highest oil temp I have seen on my '12 is 100*C. I don't track but I run her hard

Took mine to 200kph on the highway and she went from 95-100 and cooled pretty quickly when I let up. It's a non issue with no FI in my opinion
